Water Heater Switch

Hi All

New to caravaning and need some advice....When on site and hooked up to electrics do you keep your water heater switched on or do you leave it on for an hour then turn it off? Or do you just leave it on all the time your onsite regardless of you being in the van or off sightseeing?Would like to know what's right and what not to do please?

    Leave it on all the time and let the thermostat do its job.
