Website connection.
Since the website change fairly recently whenever I log on I get a warning that it is an 'Unsafe connection'. Does anyone else get this or know why it happens?

I wouldn't believe anything that appears regarding the operation of the website. This morning the Login appears to broken, as does the unread posts cookie. This website just goes from bad to worse.

I read somewhere that some Firefox users were getting this message recently. The padlock in the address bar denotes security I understand. What security levels/risks are involved I don’t know. The main club site has one, CT & BBC weather does not as below

im using 3g to access CT on ipad, no padlock denoting secured site showing here.....might/change if on the bookings/payments page...

If you click on the symbol eg the padlock or i it will give you further information about security. The Club would have to conform with security standards to use the padlock icon. The least secure would display a red triangle warning. I can see these details via my Chrome connection.

Are you on an iPad. If so I am not sure the warning has anything to do with the CAMC wifi, or whatever wifi you are trying to connect to. Since a recent update of IOS it has started showing this for unsecured sites. I just don't use them for anything sensitive like internet banking. Unfortunately to buy Wifi time you have to use the unsecured network. Although the link you put your credit card details into is supposedly a secure link.

Also get this warning when connecting to CC wifi using our android tablets.

The latest fiddling under the bonnet by the IT team has probably destroyed any vestige of security that the site may have had.

Hello marandmar,
I've spoken to our IT team about this and they have advised that this safe display is based on how people are connecting to the internet i.e. if they are using an 'open network' to connect. Air Angel (providers of the Club's WiFi) have advised us that, when using their service, the message is because the Caravan and Motorhome Club WiFi is an open network. This allows guests to connect their devices without being challenged for a WPA Key. However, the network is secure once the guest has logged into the WiFi. The network uses client isolation to prevent devices from communicating with each other on the network.
We would like to assure you the Caravan and Motorhome Club uses HTTPS across the board. Further information on internet security is available on www.getsafeonline.org

Thanks for the info Rowena, but I get the warning on my home WiFi. All other websites are OK.

You most certainly should not get that warning on your home network. Normally most internet service providers supply the connection in a locked state. Are you with BT. If so as well as your secure connection, you will also see one on the list of possible connections labelled BT wifi with FON. This is the bit of your hub you give up to others within range who can use it, in exchange for using millions of hotspots. Occasionally when I return home the pad or phone will connect with this rather than the secure connection, triggering the warning. I just need to point it in the direction of the secure link and all is well.
If this is not the problem you need to get into the settings of your hub/router and enable encryption.

Sorted it at last, I did a factory reset on my kindle and now all is rosy. I've just got to reload everything again now, oh joy. Thanks to everyone for the advice, I learnt a bit along the way.
