Access to gas BBQ outlet

I'd like to upgrade from a porch awning to a full awning.  Looking at pictures of full awnings it seems that the triangular gusset that wraps inwards at each end of the awning will, at the front end of the caravan, cover the outlet socket for the gas BBQ.  Since I like to use a gas BBQ I'm wondering how you get around this.  Is there generally sufficient slack in the gusset to be able to still get at the gas outlet socket, or is there some other way of dealing with this?  Or maybe it's a non-problem - I've never owned a full awning before so don't appreciate the ins and outs of their use.

Not a perfect solution.  But what I found best to do is put the awning up.  But before you peg the flap down lift the cover  on the gas outlet then peg down. You should be able to attach / detach the pipe to your BBQ by touch.

if you think that's bad the rear flap fouls our toilet hatch.

I have a full awning and yes the triangular piece does cover the outlet but there is sufficient play for you to get access to the gas point.

Thank you both for your replies, looks like it may not be too much of a problem -I shall soon find out.  Like you Boff, I'm going to have the double problem of the rear flap fouling the toilet hatch.  I've always wondered why caravan reviewers complained about the toilet cassette hatch being inside the awning - now I know (at least one reason) why.

There is a safety issue with using a gas point when the hose length will put it close to the awning. Much preferable to run the barbecue from the spare gas bottle at a safe distance.

Fair point Nav, it's time I invested in a regulator to connect directly to the spare gas bottle as you say.  Means I can use the gas barbie at home too.
