Yes David they do. Along with the coffee shop, the garden centre.....

Articles in local press are interesting, some mixed reactions to what is happening.

Surely that's just what everyone who buys a new van does, isn't it?

We always ask the dealer to pay for a couple of free nights on a site so that we can test out all the different facilities and familiarize ourselves with how everything works.

Most people don't David. If you never enquire you'll very seldom be offer anything free. The worst they can do is refuse.

I think Lowdhams at Huddersfield a little site you can stay on and test everything out, so my chums have told me anyway. Makes good sense really. I would be like you Nellie, no harm in asking.

The dealer we are buying our new van from offer all customers 2 free nights at a choice of 2 sites locally. They have also said they are on call for any problems .  Will hopefully be testing this out the service in April.  smile

The previous caravan we bought was from a dealer in Catterick and were offered two nights to check it out without nus asking. The current one was driveable in a day so we did not bother.

......mind you, as our dealer is probably less than 5 miles away from home, it;s no great problem to go in and sort out any problem.

Even better sense if dealers checked out the vans they sell first

Of course it is, but I'm unable to take in all the instructions concerning different functions to those I'm used to in my older van, so a couple of nights figuring them out saves a lot of toing and froing should I not be able to work anything out. Even with DP check things do occur after short usage that won't show up following a single use.

We may try the site one day, although it's a bit close to home for us......

but their pricing structure is refreshingly simple..........

Would be interested to hear about the level [if any] of road noise especially having looked at how close it is to the roundabout & that is where the sites advertised post code takes you on Google Maps.  Enjoy your time away.

Well, site is open and I'm on it right now. An AS gets one a discount per night of £1. All pitches hard standing fully serviced including own chemical disposal and each edged with hedges on 3 sides. Well away from traffic noise. Lots of on-site facilities - as shown on web site. All new and very good quality materials and design.

As a complete new build there are still some things needing added or tweaked and these are happening as we watch. Only major thing I would have specified differently is that the motor caravan waste facility has manhole covers rather than a full width grid.

Good coffee and cakes at reception. Really nothing in common with the traditional Caravan Club sites at all.

looks like the 'direct' touring competition lies with Oxon Hall, one of the Morris Leisure sites. generally these are very modern and have large, well spaced pitches. we have used the Ludlow one and if Oxon Hall is similar, it will have many repeat users...

Good to hear about this site especially the noise levels due to its location. “ Good coffee & cakes “ – a definite bonus.

Been to both Betws y Coed and Llanberis sites of Morris Leisure. Excellent. The tea drinkers at HO should visit them go see what a modern well presented site should be like. Facilities first rate, large pitches and in superb locations.  Why our club with all its funds failed to aquire the Llanberis site is a mystery.

Whilst I have not been to the two sites mentioned (although they are on the list)  I have been to the Shrewsbury site which whilst excellent to my mind is no different to most Club sites I visit and hard to tell the difference? The pitches are certainly no more generous in size and without their offers the sites seem to be more expensive even with the Club discount.

This is NOT in the style of a traditional Caravan Club site. We have been told there is a new generation of explorer campers but the Club does not know what they look like. Well, someone does - there are 100s of them all over the place here with facilities to suit their needs.

Very revealing that to turn a cow field into this multi facility site took £M3.8.. I don't see why the new style Caravan Club cannot be investing in a.dozen or so themselves. I estimate there are at least 20 people employed here as well.

So will I be going to more sites like this or back to the traditional model where the most sophisticated facility is an ice cream freezer?

I found this site last night on 'search by map' whilst looking for a second week trip in September. It had me confused, the pricing was not clear, ie, price shows 'two adults - £30.00, I could not see if it included pitch fees or not. Seems very expensive for September, with lots to offer that not every body may need, ie Biotop natural swimming, pilates studio, wellness centre, whatever they are. I did not book.

Complicated charging, awning/no awning, EHU/nonEHU, and all that nonsense is not part of the new order. It's all included - but you DO have to pay for the beers.
