I've seen tins of Barbecue Beans Husky. I tried doing my own but they kept falling through the bars.

We have a Cobb which does the usual but we often cook whole chicken, lamb shanks, ribs or joints of beef on it, not at the same time mind. winkAlso use the inside well for cooking onions, carrots or potatoes whilst the meat is cooking.

Mrs SF will not allow fish to be cooked inside the van so the Cobb does that too, smoked haddock or just tuna or cod steaks are great on it.

Chicken & Chorizo skewers, cubed Chicken, small slices of Chorizo, Peppers, Mushrooms, & Onions. If you use wooden skewers, soak them in water overnight to stop them catching alight.

Another good one for a group of people is a whole large  Salmon or Trout  stuff it with lots of Dill, lumps of Butter and sliced Lemon. Wrap it tightly in at least 6 layers of heavy foil making sure it's completely sealed in and cook for 15 minutes turning it regularly on the grill. when you take the foil off the skin will come away with it leaving moist, tasty and tender fish that your guest will rave about cool

A whole fish costing about £20 will easily feed 8 people.

    Ian.

Buy a whole chicken and spatchcock it - ie turn it on its breast and cut the backbone out and flatten it (lots of diagrams on the web and easy to do with a sharp knife or strong scissors. I then sprinkle the chicken with smokey BBQ seasoning, put skewers at through to stop it unfolding and then cook on the grill (I have a Weber Q). It takes about half an hour or so, much quicker than roasting a complete chicken. Also recommend vegetable kebabs. Thread veg on skewers, brush with oil and grill. Enjoy!

Here are a couple of photos, but alas no spatchcock chicken. Vegetable kebabs on both and on one sausages and a small joint of lamb, all cooked on the Weber. In the foil is dauphinoise potatoes left over from previous day being warmed!

You can do something similar with a small leg of Lamb. Bone it and smother it in loads of BBQ sauce. Wrap in a few layers of foil and cook for 25 minutes, turning it now and again then remove the foil and char it. over the hot grill.wink

I slice onion very thinly and cook it in wrapped foil, nothing added but it's handy for burgers and "things in a bun" type of  food.

    Steak!!!!

Try a whole Camembert wrapped in foil (in the box).  Melt on BBQ.  Open foil and box, cut the top skin and dip in bits of french baguette to eat. We do this frequently.  When the kids were young they always called it "dippy cheese". smile

We do this.  Also we do the same thing with chopped button mushrooms and sometimes with tinned potatoes.

Last year I found a new way(to me at least). Sausage slit to allow a prune inside and the wrapped in streaky bacon.  Went down well with children as well.  Asparagus is good wrapped with bacon too.

Asparagus is brilliant on a BBQ Just wrap it on foil with a knob of butter (other yellow fat based spreads are available they just aren't as good cool) Throw it on the BBQ.  Remove it after 5-20 minutes it doesn't really matter, which is the brilliant part  and enjoy.  Then enjoy the after effects everytime you go for a wee for the next 12 hours embarassed
