Have just seen this notice about Calor Lite bottles being phased out. Seems odd there is nothing on their website. However it does say they are no longer available to order on line.

Details here

This rumour has been around for several years. I too can find no announcement from Calor regarding this. However, another rumour has been circulating that a new 'lite' product may be about to be launched. We wait with bated breath for the truth.

"truth"? ? ?   Do you not mean "price increase"?

Surely the high-profile recall a few years ago hints that the cylinders were not quite up to the job.  There are suggestions on other forums of internal corrosion but that is probably pure speculation.

The big guess is whether they might go for the composite bottles (like Gas Light)  or aluminium ones like the  Spanish CEPSA light bottles.

Whatever they choose, I'm sure the price will remain exorbitant.

Thanks, birderbilly, sound like that rumour of a new 'lite' product may be true albeit at the research stage of development.

Perhaps it will be a transparent polycarbonate with snap-on connector, grab handles and weighing less than the existing one. Oh, forgot, it's called Gas Light and made in 5kg and 10kg sizes.

Interesting in Lee Davey's Tweet everyone is being consulted except the end user!!!! Hopefully they will go for one similar to BP Light but I only hope they don't make them so dumpy. Currently I can get a 10kgs BP Light and a Calor Lite in my gas locker but wouldn't be able to get a 10kgs and 5kgs cylinders side by side.
