LR Discovery Disco mode
On a CC site and a neighbouring Disco was getting ready to hitch up. This was a brand new 17 plate car and the car's rear lights went into a 'disco' mode ...... each pair of lights flashing for a few seconds. Anyone else seen this?

I've seen similar on a Peugeot ...... it's hazards flashed, presumably as its ABS kicked in.
In the case of the Disco, it was just sat there in a field with all its rear lights flashing at various times. No idea if it was a LR idea or something else. I wanted to walk over & ask, but didn't want to interrupt their routine.

This light show was reported on the Disco4 forum (they allow Disco 5s as well) but so far no explanation if it is intended by the designer or the result of a canbus fault when the trailer plug is incorrectly connected.

It is a feature which you switch on after hooking up to the caravan electrics and the Discovery then does a series of light checks to test every road light on the caravan including fog lights and even the indicators both as hazard flashers and singularly as a left and right turn indicator. It is a brilliant and cuts out the need for a driver and passenger having to shout back and forth going through a sequence of tests. Sometimes I caravan solo and it is the only way I can be sure all is working fine. Even when accompanied by SHMBO it is much quicker to use the test than the old shout and signal method. Another plus for Landrover perhaps EJB986 should try one!
