What is the obsession with attracting the yoof

But as you say with both major clubs the prices differences are far removed from some large commercial loss leaders,
And as we "oldies" have numerous " concesions" to help with our much reduced incomes, then if the said reduced fees on club sites attract us then so be it

This is clearly an "On Topic" discussion so I have moved it here from General Chat which is for off topic discussions.

Grandfather had a caravan in the 1930s, father in the 1950s, and myself in the 1970s...but that's the end of the line in this family
There is absolutely nothing this Club can do to attract my children and grandchildren. The competition elsewhere is too great. They have discovered EasyJet, Airbnb, music festivals, rentals on European campsites with water slides in the sun, CenterParcs, backpacking, globetrotting and Booking.com. They will never come back to Club sites.
I used to argue that this Club needed to try to attract younger people but I have changed my mind. I think the Club might just as well stay as it is for the present generation of pensioners.

I agree with you ET. The whole concept of being in a club to camp is just odd nowadays
I suppose if you join for rallies there's more of a club feeling but for me I just feel I'm paying to access insurance and recovery that works out slightly cheaper.
My feeling is that the club are doing too little and too late to make major changes. Should have started ten years ago but they are playing catch up to the other club now. A merger would be the most sensible approach really

Nice to see it worked properly with an explanation left in GC.

How about welcoming everyone? Seems better than targeting just one section of society.
I'm sure the CCC has an average age similar to this club. It's because joining a club to access campsites is a concept that would not occur to most folk. If I hadn't been able to save on insurance and recovery I wouldn't have joined this one.
You answered ETs post above

Correction. Sometimes it still shows in GC as a duplicate of this thread and at other times it only shows DK's locked version.

Both clubs are in a niche market providing fairly small quiet sites for people who enjoy that type of holiday. I can see the two clubs amalgamating at some point but not yet. There are plenty of people around at present who enjoy this type of site provision. The other club goes further and welcomes groups and clubs. The CMC will need to consider further options to broaden the intake of potential site users. There is a bit of an old fashioned rule book laden straight jacket that the club could perhaps leave behind, enter the 21st century and not take with it £XXX sets of Wedgwood carted around by it's leaders and "elderly" people winning TV competitions in sixties gear!
The image needs a major shake up!
EDIT THE WEBSITE NEEDS A SHAKE UP FIRST!!

ETs post is still there - I didn't quote it as I don't think it's necessary to quote posts if I'm referring to a poster.
I agree with you as well brue. The club can change logos and offer incentives as much as it likes but it needs to look at its image and that is where the sticking point will be. The split between the business side and the club side is not seamless

There's hopefully a lot of life and adventure left in this dog yet, and once I get my work pension and a few other commitments sorted, the CC ain't going to figure as a major player! For now, it offers easy, relatively cheap breaks, somewhere to park up and a half decent long shower occasionally!
I may return to Club site touring in a couple of decades!
Thats if they will have me, I might not fit the new demographics then!

Just seen your post brue...excellent!

But then the prices that most seem to moan about, are out of proportion on those type of sites, which also seem to be losing touring pitches in favour of the much more lucrative mobile homes,i notice that Rockley Park has gone all holiday homes now

Very true, this is pic of the future Mrs C on the left (little did she know how blessed she would be in marrying me on this pic)
I think the site is Bunree about 1965. name of caravan and car anyone? My mother in law doesn't know but does know the dog's name was Tinker

Sprite Musketeer (beside the future Mrs C's arm) and a Vauxhall Victor, I think. It was 1966 or later - 'D' reg = 1966.
At that time the registration years ran from Jan to Dec. In 1967 it changed and 'E' was only used from Jan to July. 'F' started in Aug 1967 and from there on the reg years ran from Aug to July until 1999.
Sorry, I'll shut up now.
