Not Flushed with Success!
I am a total newbie - just bought my first caravan - a 2001 Abbey Freestyle 470 SE and I'm getting to know how to set it up etc.
Just one question - how fierce should the loo flush be? I have a pump action Thetford C-200 CW. At first I thought the flush water was accessed from the onboard system and then I found a little door above where the cassette door is. It housed a rigid pipe which I poured fresh water down until it just came over the top of the pipe.
I flushed a few times and there is a very weak flush, just enough to thinly cover the bowl. Is this normal?
Thanks in advance

You will not get a flush like a domestic toilet, and it depends on state of the battery ,if you are on EHU then the flush power from the toilet pump ,you can add flush additive to the water which which helps to keep the bowl clean, open the flap to waste tank before use

That's about it. It is a "rinse" not a "flush". Users should open the blade and aim to drop through the hole.
The household flush you are used to takes over a gallon of water so using such an amount would require emptying the holding tank and filling the header tank for every single use.

Opening the flap before liquid use is fine. But for solid deposits leave it closed. Take toilet tissue and place on the bottom of the bowl, we use about three or four sheets doubled. Repeat in the opposite direction to form a cross. Colloquially known as a lotus flower 😉. Make your deposit and sort yourself out then open the flap and flush. It folds in on itself and hopefully leaves a clean bowl. Moist toilet bowl wipes domestos or parazone are handy for a proper clean of the bowl.
For the actual cassette lots of us use cheap BIO gel pod, clothes washing ones. Personally Lidl Formil, much cheaper than the branded stuff sold for the purpose and no spills. They are also good for your waste water container occasionally too.
There used to be a long thread on this prior to the upgrade when it was lost. There is one on here now I think bio pods in Spain, but the search facility isn't good 😉
Welcome and enjoy your new toy.
Edit I found previous thread but not the original
You'll probably have to copy and paste as I don't think it's live.

Got it - thanks for that. I won't worry about it now, I thought I was missing something that was probably very obvious (worried last week about the ceiling lights not working, then I found the light switch!!).
Will def investigate the bio tab thing - thanks for the link.

Layering the bowl with paper is a really bad idea. As well as the instant odour problem the wraping delays the chemicals being able to act on the waste and break it down in the way they are intended.
These are "chemical toilets" and not the happy-flush-it-away used at home.
