Hello, I have a friend who would like to tow his caravan from Italy to Scotland this month of June for a nice tour of the region. He is wondering if it is possible for him since he has a Hobby 7.60 x 2.50. Is maximum width in the UK still 2.30 or has it changed like in the rest of the Continent?

Many thanks for your answers,

Marco

I doubt he will have any trouble in Scotland as most roads are no different to the rest of the country. There are single track roads in the highlands and care is needed on these although there are plenty of passing places and the locals drive sensibly letting oncoming traffic pass.

Possibly one road I would avoid is the A82 up the North end of Loch Lomond which is not for the faint hearted towing a caravan that size. If he lets us know where he wants to go there are plenty of us on here who will help. He will be more than welcome though.

Many thanks JCB4x4 and Wildwood! My friend will be very happy to hear that there is no 2.30 width limit and that he will have no problems in Scotland with his caravan. Thanks Wildwood also for offering help!

He will need to pick his routes with care. Some roads are not suitable but most are OK.
