On-board water tank

Am I missing something, just bought a new Elldiss Crusader that has an on-board water tank (not one of my choices) just been away and had a play with the water system and the tank fills to the top. Turned the tap to drain no problem, but leaves around 20mm of water in the bottom that wont drain out even tipping the van towards the drain valve. The water level is above the tap but not draining.

Any Ideas ?

My guess would be that drain valve or pipe work that follows it is at a raised level to bottom of tank.

It may be that the union or whatever fitting the drain valve has to attach it extends further up inside than the base of the tank.  Maybe a manufacturing error/fault. Is it possible to remove the drain tap and see if it fully drains down?

Only if I  wanted a van full of water. Tap assembly is on the inside with the drain through the floor.

Looks like an e-mail to manufacturer.

If the tank does not drain fully then this could be a problem in winter so it needs attention. As the caravan is new you go to the dealer as your contract for purchase is with them and not Eldiss.

As you cannot see into the tank I am curious to know how you managed to find the depth of water although it is not relevant to the complaint.

Very easy to get too, its under the bed with a large screw cap so you can get your hand in and change any sensors or pump that pack up.

Dealer has no idea how to completely drain the tank, never been asked.

Another Elldiss design fault. Bet they have never tried to drain one!!!!

Sounds not disimilar to the tank fitted to my Lunar  ..... is the cap about 5" dia & red? If so, we had it for a long time with no problems at all. Just opened the tap/ball valve as we left a site ...... never gave it another thought afterwards.
