Didn't notice some of them doing much in the past either........but maybe I don't read the forum as avidly as some.

That's a very good point, Dianne. Just because you and other mods don't post doesn't mean you're not keeping a watchful eye on things. People are jumping to conclusions simply because mods need now only keep a low profile.

Really? I thought the mods had a fair bit of interaction with some of your posts.

Not sure about this idea getting to people to resign (which to me is repugnant to even suggest that to a volunteer) and getting replacements. Is there a limit of the number of mods there can be at one time? Does someone have to be removed before another can be appointed? I can't see how as there are not paid positions. If there is more work to be done (which I don't think there is as the current mods seen or unseen do a great job) then simply appoint more unpaid volunteers? Why insult someone who has done a great job by asking for their resignation?

My OH is high up in the Girl Guides and manages/has managed volunteers for many years. When someone has other concerns, like family illness or more pressing issues, you don't fire or ask them to resign, you simply reduce their workload and act with a bit of compassion.

Precisely the point that I was making. I've not seen any mention by a moderator of being overworked.

Lack of Mods on here probably means they have as many problems with this forum as us poor mortals do!

This is a very curious thread! Surely, if we're all behaving nothing will require modding.

(Don't say I've missed some juicy confrontations cry)

I think that's the point some of us have been making. If we don't see them being active, we don't know they're watching.

At 2245hrs on a Friday evening, I would think either tucked up in bed or maybe with a glass of something.  I know its difficult to understand but CT isn't the centre of the universe and our voluntary mods do have other lives.

Your question HD but I think if I was to pose a question like this it would be where are the staff champions and why bother with them as apart from 1 or 2 I've never seen anything from them since the introduction

Yebbut, the only evidence that Mods aren't active is if a contravening post remains uncensored.

Perhaps there should be evidence when they're watching a thread by an automatic post appearing with say, a green tick, or in marginal circumstances an emoticon of an admonishing wagging finger?
