Hi Folks,

I have a corner vanity mirror door opposite the bed above the vanity unit that has fell off in transit and smashed/broken the mirror/glass and damaged the caravan floor.

I have now replaced said mirror and have to say that it is not at all secure,(it looks like I designed it ) in fact I might take it back off the wall and store it at home till time comes to replace the Caravan with a new one? As it looks like it will "just fall off and break again"!

Does anyone have any experience with the same thing happening to them and if so, do you have any advice as to how I cure this??

Are all Caravans really this bad, as I bought this Van new and things breaking or dropping off are a regular occurrence and we are just waiting for the next thing to break!

Can you imagine the state of the roads with accidents if cars were made with the same quality/quality control as caravans!!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Paul.

Hi Paul, if your van is still under warranty you should contact your dealer. If not try rawl plugs for cavity walls.

You do need to make a list and contact your dealer or your National Caravan Council Approved workshop

we have a 2017 Swift 580, and the mirror is a door on the eye-level vanity unit; presumably yours is? have to say ours is pretty secure.is it the hinges or catches at fault?

On an associated point, OH wanted a full length mirror which I attached with heavy duty double sided sticky pads to the sliding bathroom door. I did take care to find a fairly lightweight mirror, and it sticks fine and holds secure.

we did exactly same thing on our previous caravan in identical position, and that too held (apart from once when a speed bump jumped up from nowhere and everything got a sudden jolt, but that was down to driver error. Luckily no damage as you suffered,)

    Hi IanTG,

I think its the hinges at fault as you have to attach them by screwing in plastic screws top and bottom and I think its these that are not holding!

I looked at a new 580 and that mirror had "proper" hinges so I am presuming Swift has indentified a problem, but mine is just out of warranty as is the usual case!

    Cheers,

    Paul.

My 2016 580 is the same as IanTG set up and I have had no problems either.

My mirror in a 2017 580 has just broken during transit, cracked diagonally across but all stayed in place. Im looking at acrylic mirrors to replace this.
