We have just returned home from a two week stay at Birch Hill Farm CL which is located about a mile from the town of Ellesmere. The site is in a beautiful location, and is very well kept and managed by the friendly owners Ian and Janet. There are many tourist attractions within easy drive from the site, and information on them is available from the site website https://www.birchhill.co.uk/

The area is a unique location for small lakes, called meres, formed at the end of the last ice age. The Shropshire Union Canal, Llangollen Branch, which also links to The Montgommery Canal passes through Ellesmere about one mile from the site.

On this visit we spent our time exploring the meres, nature reserves, and walking sections of the canals. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet, and being out in nature. Our walks along the canal had added interest as we encountered and chatted to boat owners, either moored up or cruising by.

This area of the UK is relatively unknown as a tourist destination, but is well worth a visit, and Birch Hill Farm CL is the ideal centre for your explorations. Below is a link to my album of photographs taken on this visit.
