Caravan Review: Lunar Clubman SR
For anyone who missed this in the November 2016 issue of the Club digital magazine, below is the video review by Rob McCabe for the Lunar Clubman SR. Let us know what you think of Lunar's latest offering. Would you have one? What do you think of the layout with the central washroom and end island bed?

Rowena.
Is there any reason why you have singled out this caravan for our observations, especially as it is 5 months since the review and that the layout is no longer innovative but a staple of all manufactures?
Are you going to place every caravan video review in the forum and ask for comments?

I was pitched next to a one year old one a couple of weeks back. Guy wished he'd never changed from his old van.

How strange to see a review here.
Lunar? You'd best ask Oneputt's opinion.

Not keen on the layout, is the loo on view from the bed? Not keen either on the short 6ft bed, it looks cramped. I also like blinds that go up not down, nice to open the top bit in the morning to let light in and maintain some privacy. If we bought a caravan it wouldn't be this one.

We loved this van but the bed length was an issue for me with it sandwiched between to the two walls. Pity as it really is an attractive van
In the end of gone for the Elddis Affinity 550 which offers a different take on the Mid washroom but gives as bed over 6ft ad no wall at the foot of the bed.
Delivery agreed for the 13 May so fingers crossed - our Swift has given us three years trouble free service!

The layout looks good but the bed length may be an issue for many people. having said that Lunars are bigger than some and I cannot even see myself buying the bailey with that layout as the bed is far too short for even the shorter ones amongst us.
With this layout you need to see if you feel the bedroom will be too claustrophobic. Personally I think the transverse bed is a better option although that does leave issues of getting round the end when the bed is fully out.

Good luck with the Affinity 550 there Riggers. We bought the 2016 model at the 2015 NEC show. We've used it for over a year now and been really pleased with it. The layout is perfect for us with the central bathroom. And the bed is very comfortable and plenty long enough for my 6 ft 2" frame!
We've since looked at the offerings of the same layout from Lunar, Coachman and Bailey and wouldn't swap for any of them. As others have said, the beds are not long enough and the caravans are all heavier than the Elddis.
Hope this helps.

When this post was made we were awaiting collection of our SR. A week, and one weekend Rally, later we embarked for Roscoff and we have now had two weeks in it.
The layout appealed to us as it allows both us and our teenage Grandchildren to have use of the bathroom yet maintain privacy. Our previous van was a Clubman SI and one reason we chose it over others was that it had a fixed transverse bed as opposed to others where the bed extended making it impossible to pass by without disturbing the occupants due to the lack of space at the foot of the bed.
There is no question that it would be nice if the bed was longer but so far it is proving OK and as we all know any van is a compromise in some way but many concerns turn out to be no more that having to get used to something different.
On our first use, on a D&C Rally, my wife thought that I had told the Grandchildren to praise the van as they could not stop saying how great it was-they spotted the USB sockets in a split second-and after our first two weeks we have definitely 'bonded' with the van.
