Annoying beeping!!

OK, so we're away in our caravan at the moment and there's an annoying beeping coming from what I believe is a motion sensor?? I've taken a picture but can't upload it because this website doesn't handle photos over 500k!?! (I think my 2004 Nokia took larger photos than that!)

The sensor is near the floor at the front of the caravan, has a button with 'No PIR' labelled on it, a light which is intermittently flashing  (and beeping) and an opaque small plastic dome which I believe is the actually sensor. The whole thing is about the size of a plug socket.

Any ideas on how to kill it? My alarm key fob doesn't work so if I need that then I'm screwed. I was perhaps thinking of powering down the van and disconnecting the battery whilst we're out for the day today to see if it resets.

Thoughts?

Is it like this one (click for link)

It would usually be fitted higher up though.  Might it be a carbon monoxide alarm or other gas detector?  In any event it may not be connected to the caravan battery and the beeping may indicate a low battery.  Can you remove the dome and have a look?

The sensor bit (dome) looks the same but the rest looks different. However, I'm sure they're both motion alarms.

It's fitted as part of the caravan and wired in to the electrics so don't think it's battery as it's powered by the caravan electrics and we're on hook up.

I'm just wondering if it's tripped somehow and needs a reset?

It would be unusual to have a beep alarm fitted to a motion sensor. I am more inclined to the CO sensor or smoke detector batteries being low and requires replacement. I have had this problem in the past and in the house too. I would change these batteries and see if the beep stops.

Try unhooking and taking the battery out and see what happens.  If it continues to beep then it has an internal battery.  If it goes off then it may reset, when you plug back in and stop beeding.  If it doesn't stop the beeping then you may need to visit a nearby caravan showroom, show them your picture, and ask their advice.

OK so I've been digging through the manuals and it is indeed a motion sensor as part of the factory fitted alarm. The beeping is alarm indicator to describe why the alarm went off (as far as I know it didn't though). To turn it off I need to use the key fob but unfortunately this doesn't work so basically I'm stuffed. It also has an inbuilt battery to keep it going even if mains and leisure battery are disconnected.....happy days!!

I'm still going to disconnect all power when we head out for the day and see if the inbuilt battery dies. I reckon it's not designed to last long, probably an hour or so.

    Fingers crossed!

Hi Mike , I'm thinking your alarm is the same / similar to the one fitted on our Swift SE  , its probably a sergeant make the hand zapper controls alarm on/off & also puts awning lights on/off remotely.

The unit as its own battery which is charged when on hook up & it runs off the caravan 12 volt system ,  even if the caravan battery is removed  it will still be active for weeks because it run off its own battery until exhausted ..........hope this helps

     edit

Access to the unit & control board is to remove seating from above sensor(floor level sensor) , ours is located front left side of caravan

Hi Mike here's a suggestion our Lunar delta has a green coloured plug size sensor fitted at the front and at ground level. If you have set or unset the alarm with a long press of the fob it will set the sensor for movement, can I suggest everyone leaves the van and then set the alarm usually it will omit one bleep, then unset it normally two bleeps and hopefully it will solve your problem, just remember one short press on the fob

I remember a previous post, quite a long time ago where someone was having problems with their alarm, apparently the problem was connected with the outside awning light and it's switch. Could this be the same??
