Headlamp protectors - are they worth having?
I am wondering whether to buy headlamp protectors for my Peugeot cabbed motorhome, but then having never had any headlamp damage in over 40 years of driving I am wondering whether they are really worth it.
What experiences have you had and do you consider them a useful purchase?

How many vans driven by white van man have protectors and they do far more miles than us MH-ers? I'd save my money.

Probably not, but gives peace of mind.
however the are useful if you go abroad for a couple of reasons;
The protectors show location of anti dazzle beam deflectors.
The black beam deflectors can get very hot in the med sun and cause crazing of the plastic where it is mounted, an expensive replacement if a lamp unit has to be replaced.

I use then but only to put on/take off headlamp masks when going to and from Europe. The new X290 version has no clips to fit and needs no tools to fit or remove but is "captive" by being clipped in under the bonnet. So worth having but not for protection alone.

Had the clip on covers for the V70 ,which included the light deflection lenses,when high speed motoring in Europe.Just how many stone chip's are on the bonnet and wings ?? A broken headlight is an expensive replacement ,and an M.O.T failure.!!.

Since headlamp lenses have been made of poly carbonate? the need for protectors is not so great. Seem like a good idea for foreign travel though.
