Camping at the Shuttleworth Collection

Anyone wanting to vist this fine collection of mainly vintage flying aircraft can now camp on site on selected days. I have received an email as follows:

"New for 2017, caravan and camping pitches are available for selected dates in 2017, including all of our Evening airshows and Flying Proms. Motorhomes, caravans and tents welcome. Dogs on leads are welcome on the site. Charges per night £20 per night (Fri and Sat), £50 for 3 nights (Fri – Sun). Water and toilets available on site.

Please note an event ticket will be required for those using the pitches on an event day, for those camping on non-event dates take advantage of reduced entry to The Collection and Swiss Garden.

Dates available in 2017:
• 19–21 May
• 26–28 May
• 16-18 June
• 23-25 June
• 7-9 July
• 14-16 July
• 25-27 Aug
• 8-10 Sept
• 6-8 Oct

    Thanks for that info, I shall take advantage of it later in the year.

    We have attended their evening airshows in the past and can recommend them to all, very enjoyable.

    Thanks peedee, for other times there is a campsite just 4 miles away.

    Much more basic than a CC site so may well not suit many members!

    This is interesting and possibly good news...I may be trying it over the 16-17th June.

    I totally agree that Shuttleworth has an awesome collection of aircraft and that the shows are really unlike anything you can see elsewhere, with an intimacy, informality and closeness that is often lacking at other bigger shows.

    Ashridge is quite close and is a nice site, but the problem is they won't accept check-ins after 2000 hours, so if you come up from far away for a Saturday air show, you have to leave the show at 1900 so you can check-in at the site.  This is often when the highlight of the show is happening, with the Edwardian planes taking to the skies!  This happened to us last year.  It won't be an issue if you can actually stay at shuttleworth.
