Happy Children on CMC sites

In the "past" when the majority parents accepted responsibility for their offspring it was a joy to be on any site, as most parents would join in or find places to enjoy time with their children, as now it seems as long as they are not "annoying" the parents then its fine what ever they do

An anecdotal opinion which we older ones must be careful of not tarring all modern parents with that same old brush. There have always been different 'standards' of parenting. No better today than in the past but that is just my opinion. Well behaved parents and children should be welcomed into enjoying our pastime and a very many do.

I'm afraid it must be 'in the eye & mind' of the beholder this looking thru 'nostalgia glasses' parents from yesteryear were just as feckless as today(the minority) most parents today spend more time engaging with their Children. 40/50yrs ago the mantra was-'don't speak til you're spoken to,' 'Children should be seen not heard' now that is no way to bring up a rounded/intelligent Child. Interaction is key, that I see a lot more now. There will always be tensions when the School meets the retirement home. It's up to us to be tolerant, we are the adults.

well sorry David but I was just reading and can only reply to what you yourself had posted:
When mine were little we took them to beachside sites on the continent and when in the UK mmostly to cls where they could have some fun.
I must have a different definition of mostly than you do

Families tend to use caravans, couples tend to use motorhomes (yes, there are exceptions to everything, but in general terms).
Even if that were true then Ian, as according to the club, motorhome owners make up about 30% of the club membership, the club should target caravan owners with their attendant families?
Source: Club magazine December 2016, page 72, Director General's report. ( No I didn't trawl through back copies, I've only just read it in the van last night)

Thank you all for your response to my post, l hope it's been worth while to air your views, out of it l hope we are more tolerant to the young families that are starting to caravan. l was at my dealers early this week to get one of those big steps quiet fantastic for us OAP'S, while l was their l noticed quite a few young couples and families all searching for the ideal van, seems their is quite a lot of interest from the young lately this can only be good for the industry and of course for all holiday destinations. Well off to Troutbeck next Sunday weather's looking promising, mind you it is the lakes better take the water proofs
