I'm here at Hillhead Club Site near brixham been here since last Wednesday every time I go the toilet block at least one toilet is left in a filthy state. Why are some men so dirty it makes you wonder wonder what their homes are like. If you like to see it clean when you arrive then leave it clean for the next person.

Our friends were wardens for 15yrs and that is one of the things they often mentioned, how people live at home if they (both sexes) make the mess that they leave the facilities in   also, ladies showers/wash cubicles were nearly always worse than the mens

Seems like another vote for non facility siteswink

Seriously is does make you wonder about people. I am rather surprised the Club don't have an advisory notice in each cubicle asking people to leave the toilet in a clean condition? It shouldn't be necessary but clearly there are minority of people who just don't care.

Who reads notices? another thing that was noted by our friends was that the cleaning times, although posted on the toilet blocks, were never understood, as when they went to start cleaning it was likely that "members" would either be in them or approaching, and the stock statement would be "oh is it time for cleaning?"but if they over ran because they were worse than usual, there would then be "members"wondering why they were not open at the times advertised,

In fact when they had their own sites, the cleaning times were advertised with the added note of "these times are approximate as we clean to a standard not a timetable"

    Who reads notices?

They must read some otherwise men and women would end up in the wrong placesurprised   But the real answer is nobody of course if they are not there. However if it was face level on the door as you sat on the loo it would be difficult to ignore. OK I accept some people will ignore them come what may but I believe in taking some action rather than no action. Given that it would be a very low cost option to do so I think it well worthwhile.

It's almost as though they are public toilets and they just don't care because someone else will clean them later. As suggested, more reminders might be helpful?

Unfortunately the ladies loos are just as bad.  Does no one know what the flush is for.  Sometimes i can look in several for a clean one (flushing as i go!!).  I feel like putting up a picture notice like i have at home for my grandsons.

It would need to be a picture as thats how you find the right entrance

But even that does not work as a site we use a lot was refurbished,,in the process the  gents and ladies facilities changed ends and OH was quite supprised to find a man going into a cubicle as she came out of the one she had usedsurprised

it happened at both ends, so the site staff got some full size male /female pictures for the entrance doorswink

We use the bathroom in the caravan 95 percent of the time regardless of where we are , but on the odd occasions we use the toilet block have definitely noticed an increase in the OP observations .

Bone idle springs to mind ..............

Instead of having "Male" toilets and "Femaile" toilets how about we have "Clean people" and "Dirty People" ones instead?

if it was face level on the door as you sat on the loo it would be difficult to ignore.

Easy to ignore as it would be covered by the Guchi onsie hanging on the nail.

I remarked very loudly in disgust about this a couple of years ago after flushing all 4 toilets on the site we were on and was told very sternly it was all those bloody kids by an elderly gent. I politely asked him to take me round the site and show me these kids as the only children on site were babes in arms!!

While there is no excuse for laziness and dirty habits, the way that some toilets don't flush properly doesn't help. Some sites trying to get it to flush at all requires some patience and even when it does there is insufficient water or pressure of water to flush properly.

Why not treat the toilets like golf etiquette. When u repair your pitch mark you should repair two others on the green. Same with toilets. If you find one that is a little dirty why not clean it rather than just leaving it for the poor wardens. That way everyone is happy.

Why should the wardens have to clean the filthy mess that some leave. There have enough to do without doing extra. I wonder if anyone on this site is reading this is one of these people.

My record was 4 flushes ...........  on the final flush I took the top off the cystern and depressed the ball float until on the verge of overflow before flushing. That solved it. I admit that had it not I would have given up.

After seeing dirty unflushed toilets i then go on to worry that these people have not washed their hands.  I apologise if anyone sees this strange woman trying to get out of the toilet block without touching the door handles.

I used a  cubicle in a Debenham's store which had just been vacated by a member of staff - she hadn't flushed (I did before using another cubicle) nor did she wash her hands!  Take a pack of wipes in with you for the handles when leaving any public loos with less than clean facilities.

Whilst not defending this disgusting habit that some people seem to have there can sometimes be a problem with the loo itself. Some take an absolute age to refill. Why this should be so when water pressure at other taps is OK is beyond me. I have seen / used a few loos where the isolator valve has been only opened a small way which just allows a slow trickle into the cistern. Having said that, people shouldn't be impatient and should wait until the 'job' is fully completed.undecided

On a cruise we were on recently every exit door to the toilets both male and female had a hand spray and a box on the wall with sanitized tissues in and a small bin. The sign above said 'please use tissue to open door,  then dispose of tissue in box' or something along those lines. Yet some folk still left without washing hand or using the spray and tissues. Then they moan when they contract Norovirus yell

If free disposable gloves can be provided to operate fuel pumps surely something similar could be provided for toilets?

I know we are sometimes inclined to joke about French plumbing but one thing they excel at is powerful flush mechanisms in their toilet blocks. Perhaps the Club could learn something from that? At home we have fast fill cisterns which reach a position of being flushed quite quickly in succession. Perhaps the Club are more concerned about water conservation than efficiency?

"Disabled" is what one would be if one survived a Norovirus bout at all.

I always seem to collect some spare ones when fueling so I use them up when visiting the insanitary blocks, but then I'm mean.

When we are on site, I usually use the caravan facilities, but on the occasions that I have used the toilet block, I have usually found things 'in good order' - certainly far superior to the 'toilets on the High Street' or some pub toilets, which I have found to be in need of serious attention!!!!

However, I agree about the weak 'flushing power' we are sometimes confronted with in the UK.  I wonder if some just flush and walk without checking?
