Storage when on pitch
Now in our 2nd year with the M/H and getting to grips with it ,but the one thing I find is leaving items on the pitch when we go out for the day (chairs, table, etc), thinking of buying a pup tent to leave these items in (secured together), are there other alternatives as even a pup tent seems a bit big ????

I have seen people using the plastic garden storage boxes that double as a seat which you can buy flat-pack from B&Q (others available) and clip together.
While they are ideal I wondered for a while how they were transported until I saw a chap dismantling his before departure! With a motor caravan there are platforms that can be attached to the rear that could save the need for that.

We just leave our stuff neatly on pitch, but not valuable items of course. Everything waterproof as well. If CL is quite secure, or folks around, we don't worry. Two items in 35 years disappeared, one a home made pitch marker, other a plastic water carrier, but they left us the cap! We don't always take hook up cable if we are returning to same site. Just unplug, (both ends of course) coil up and leave with other things.
We did think of a pup tent when we used van without awning, but decided that it proved more likely to be "investigated". Depends on site of course, wouldn't leave anything out even overnight at Clumber! Not the members you worry about, but the surrounding visitors, looking for easy pickings!
We do have a Fiamma box for use on bike rack when we aren't carrying bikes.

We do not leave anything if we do go out in the van except the EHU cable and the pitch in use sign. We just pack stuff back into the garage. Have seen some MH's with stand alone awnings they re-attach when coming back for the day, others just leave it piled up on the pitch. I guess you could just put a tarpaulin over them to stop any rain, or is it the security side you are worried about?

I leave nothing but a "motorhome using this pitch" sign if I venture out in the van. If I leave the chairs behind I won't have anything to sit on when I park up somewhere, eg by the beach.
However, when I have been running a rally or THS I have needed somewhere to store the parphenalia involved and for this I used one of those self erecting 2 man tents. Just take it out the bag and throw it on the ground and whush you have a tent. Cheap too and easily stored as it folds flat, once you have mastered how to get it back in the bag! Got mine from Go Outdoors about £25.2 -
We just leave the sign out , our chairs fold up into bags and we only have the stored van table (hardly ever use it thanks to a small swing out table permanently in use.) We've cut down on all the things we used to take in our caravan.
Have used a pop up tent....getting it back into the bag was a challenge as per Peegeenine's post.

We only Ieave the pitch marker and EHU cable. Everything else goes with us stored in its dedicated place.

We leave most things outside. Last year in France we stayed fixed for two weeks as the weather was poor elsewhere. I managed to leave the canopy tie-down straps and pegs in position, mark the wheel positions with bits of wood, return to exactly the same location, wind out the canopy and attach the straps.
Generally we found that the minimum number of accessories and equipment works best. Less to pack, less to carry, less to lose.

We leave the pitch taken sign. Everything else is put away although we do travel light. One of the external toilet tents is an alternative to a pup tent. When in Switzerland, we went out for the day and came back to find a Polish couple had erected a small tent in the corner of our pitch. They were very apologetic but we let them stay as they were nice people. I doubt anyone would park their motorhome on a pitch with a toilet tent already in place.
