Cold water running hot
Hi,have a 2016 Lunar Clubman CK fitted with Alde heating system just wondering if anyone has the same problem with cold water, when turned on it tends to run really hot and have to run about a litre of water off before it runs cold, thanks in advance for any replies.

Plan ‘B’
1) Disconnect the offending ‘Cold Supply Pipe’ at both ends but leave it in-sit u.
2) Install longer, ‘Cold Supply Pipe’, re-routed away from the heat source.
3) If a Warranty Claim situation arises
a) Remove pipe; as in ‘2’ above
b) Reconnect pipe: as in ‘1’ above
Plan 'C'
Sorry!! but I haven't really got one, other than to 'Live with it'

I have the same problem. I think the water is too hot for transfer between hot an cold pipes. I notice the hot tank is fed by the cold feed via a t piece as it passes the tank to the cold taps. I think it is drawing hot water from the tank as it passes . Hope this makes sense.

Indeed I can see the possibility of some siphoning taking place at this point and think that the occurrence would depend to some extent on the particular installation. Having looked the diagrams and parts availability for this boiler, I can see no provision for a non-return valve being fitted at cold inlet in the boiler itself. However for systems fitted with an on-board fresh water tank an Alde JG Non-Return Valve is available.
See: http://www.alde.co.uk/alde-compact-products.php?itemCat=alde 3020 compact system for details.
This indicates that in certain circumstances back-flow or siphoning can occur.

Just use the hot water to wash you hands before doing whatever you are going to do with the cold.

Hi Linmal
did you get this sorted? We collected a new lexon 4 weeks ago and seem to have the same problem.
From reading thread, I understand likely to be pipes close together, but interested in what your dealer had to say?
TIA

Hi Chacombegirl,
we took it to the dealer also took the prited replies and diagrams he said he could'nt understand it told him in myopinion it needed non return valve fitting picked it up later and was told the pressure switch was fitted wrong way round and that the problem seemed to be solved, however have been away twice since and it still seems to be doing it, so as it's a hour and a half round trip to drop it off another hour and half to pick it up we just have to waste about a litre of water when we want it cold!

Thank you Linmal.
We'll see what our dealer has to say and, if any different response to that which you got, will let you know.
Happy caravanning

Given the size of the pipes and the length that they are touching it seems highly unlikely to me that the close proximity is causing the problem. One litre of water is a heck of a lot to have to drain off. I suspect a more fundamental problem with back flow or similar.

Here is a off the cuff idea use the heat reflective foil like the type you put behind a domestic radiator cut into strips and insert between the pipes refective side towards the hot water pipe or you could try tin foil shinny side towards the hot water pipe. It's worth a try, although I must say, I don't think seperating the pipes a little would affect the warranty as you would'nt be disconnecting them

Hi Chacombegirl
Hope you get this post re. cold water, finally got the dealer to fit a nonreturn valve been away this last weekend and Hey Presto problem solved, had to explain to them that the valve needed fitting in the cold water inlet pipe to the heater just before the drain tap otherwise the heater tank would not drain, hope you find this helpful and anyone else having the same problem.
