Swift Power Unit Timing Out
I have a 2016 Swift fitted with the EC600 Swift PSU. When not using the caravan I leave the PSU isolator/shut down switch on but switch the control panel display above the door off. The solar panel charges the battery which shows it to be between 12.8 and 13.2 volts. Nothing is left on in the caravan other than the alarm. I am finding if the control panel is not switched back on after a few days although it shows the usual standby information on the LCD it cannot be switched back on to get the full display. The only way is to reset by pressing the PSU isolator switch off then back on. You can then use the lcd display panel as normal. This only seems to happen if the lcd panel has not be switched on for a few days. Is there a timing out feature? The battery seems to be fine.

Not sure which unit you mean MDD10 but presume you are referring to the E600 PSU. If so it is located under the bed box a bit out of the way and as the caravan is stored without an EHU plugged in or anything running other than the alarm and solar panel I didn't see any reason to switch it off. Instead I just switch off the LCD Control panel which is a master switch for the lights etc. Does everyone switch their PSU off? A friend just buying a similar Swift was told by his dealer not to touch it.

I have a similar problem with my 2016 Bolero. The control panel freezes regularly. Just had 15 days static without ehu and when I came to leave I couldn't switch it off and had to do a full PSU shutdown. I mentioned this to the dealer last year and they did an update but that hasn't solved the problem. It's booked in next month for them to have another go at it. I usually leave the control panel set to Solar so that I can monitor the amps going into the leisure batteries but sometimes it changes itself to show Leisure Battery Voltage. Also, the clock gains a few minutes each day which is odd for a digital clock. When on site, the only time I touch the control panel is to switch the water pump off when we leave the van and go off site and I have had it freeze then. It's a pain if it does it at night as a shutdown does exactly that and shuts down everything, including the lights so have a torch handy before pressing the shutdown button. Technology is great but to be honest I am happy with good old fashion switches that put me in control. The charging regime in my MH is supposed to be Smart, but it aint, I have to change settings manually to get it to do what I want.
With regard to shutting down the system when in storage, in my handbook Swift recommend using the shutdown when the vehicle is not being used for long periods but that information is for a MH.0 -
It sounds like your situation Peegeenine is more severe than mine. I have never had the control panel freeze whilst it is switched on but just after several days when it has been off. In fact I am not too impressed either with the internal and external temperature readings supplied by the panel which can be at least 5 c out of true. At the same time the Alde temperature over reads by a similar amount. I now use a thermometer and adjust the Alde to suit it. Like you say just too much science rather than functionality.
