in the process of changing from a caravan to a Motorhome and looking at insurance. Comfort Insurance has quoted a good price has anyone had dealings with this company and would recommend them?

I think Comfort are well regarded in motorhome circles. Have you thought about using the Club insurance? I must admit I have not checked the prices recently but when I was first looking there was little difference between the two. One aspect of Comfort that people like is that they provide breakdown insurance included in the price for both UK and Europe.

I also understand Safeguard M’home insurance also does this type of cover.

Be aware that some insurance companies do not have no claims years.

ie you start with say 10 years, have insurance for a year with no claims and you leave with 10 years. (Or less)

Saga gives quite a good deal with uk & eu recovery, less than green flag and red pennent.

c&mhc green flag overs recovery on a second vehicle at a cheap rate.

We've been with Comfort for 4 years now.  And had 2 claims for new windscreens, unlucky or what?  Both were A-Class windscreens, around the £2600 mark.  Both happened when an oncoming vehicle threw up a stone and caused the windscreen to crack.

First time happened on the way home while stil in France.  Rang Comfort once home, and they took over from there; sorted where to get it repaired, got them to contact us to arrange a convenient time, all very efficiently.

Second time was 2 years ago, half way through holiday in France, en route to a campsite.  Rang when we got there, they rang us back, and arranged for us to get it done on our return (it wasn't too bad a crack).  Once home, same thing, they took over all the organising and the screen was replaced for the second time.

No complaint about how they dealt with our claims.  Price didn't really increase much year-on-year, that's why we've stuck with them.

InaD, sorry to hear about your windscreens but it makes me fell better as I've only had one claim with Comfort for a cracked windscreen. Like you experienced, they met the claim without any hassle. Whilst they may not be the cheapest - they are competitive - I stick with them and have now had their cover for something like 10 years.

Reba, on my experience, I would recommend Comfort.

Hi, we have been with Comfort for four years. We have never had to claim but found the company easy to deal with and competitive on price. We go to France on a regular basis and for an extra £80 per annum our insurance includes full European Breakdown cover. The cover is not restricted by weight, length, height or age of the motorhome.
