Hi

I am looking at getting a Hyundai i40 estate. 1.7 CRDI Auto 2016. SE Business edition. This will be towing a Baily Pagent with a max weight or 1375.

Has anyone got any towing experience with one if these cars.

Regards

Mark

Can't speak for i40, but I love my Santa Fe if that's any help in terms of the brand.

l have the Santa FE as above but a great deal of difference between that and the i40, the SF is all wheel drive when called upon and is built for towing

I personally believe that you will struggle with Hyundai's 1.7 engine towing that weight of caravan. It's not the most powerful of beasts and I'm a bit disappointed in the Tuscans 1.7 Cdi engine. The power takes a little bit of time to kick in and whilst it tows our van perfectly well we do only have 1000kgs to tug. If I was buying a heavier van I would be looking to change the car.

Look like you're on the hunt for a car Mark as this is your third posting. Not got one of these - always been a Mondeo man and now a Kuga driver but looking at the stats and reviews the i40 does seem down on power for what isn't the lightest of vans. Perhaps go back to your thoughts on the Insignia????

Looks to me that you need the 2 litre CDI engine they do that in the Tuscon range
