Caravan only european breakdown insurance question
I've just got a Hyundai Tucson under lease for three years.
Full European breakdown is covered in the lease, but not the caravan I'm pulling. Is it possible to get caravan only European breakdown insurance..or must it be with a vehicle as well?

I have never found any and I think you need to take out the standard policy. The RAC do allow you to add a caravan to their cover but I am not sure who your cars cover is with and what restrictions it has.
If you are relying on the UK cover for the caravan over here I would check your cover. The one with our car is only to the nearest dealer or place of safety and not home and has a length and width limit that excludes our caravan.

Dr Nigel, I think that if you are over 50 and insure your caravan with Saga you can add UK and Europe-wide Caravan only breakdown cover as an extra option to that policy with them. But check with them.

Hi, variations on your question ha e been asked many times with a great variety of answers.
As et says you need to check and when I did this exercise last year it soon became apparent that there are many providers that have limitations that rule them out, such as the van length.
In the end we went with Safeguard, but you need to take their insurance to add on the breakdown, which seemed to me to be the only one that, for my circumstances, matched the cover provided by Red Pennant.
The cost was app £60 but may have gone up but for that I got full European and U.K. cover including double journey cover in the UK.
We too now have a new car but the cover includes the towed vehicle.
