Towing a caravan with a campervan
We currently own a Burstner Solano 728g motorhome and travel to France, Spain and Portugal as well as the UK. We knew it would be a little too big for daily use, nipping to Aldi, doing a bit of fishing on the coast etc,. so we were looking at options. One of these was to trade the motorhome for a decent size caravan and a smallish to average size motorhome or panel van conversion.
This way we could site the caravan on a caravan park on a long term (months) deal, then use the camper to go off touring around, parking in any car park, wild camp for an evening or two, park in a Brit Stop pub for the night if required. Basically, the caravan would be our base probably wintertime in Spain and the camper would give us more flexibility on a daily basis. I'd also like to think that there would be some savings per year compared to the motorhome as well as more flexibility. Any thoughts?

I've thought of going down that route ( Small, gutsy camper towing a smallish but well equipped caravan ) a time or two. It would possibly fill a corner of my life-style well, but the costs always seem to shoot me down in flames, so I take the "Dreaming Specs" off, turn over and go back to sleep.
That way I've still got the dreams, haven't I !
{ OPutt, what, apart from a ravine, is a 'coulee', please ?? }

Apart from the land form, think the white Bellied Sea Eagle is also known as Coulee. Not spelt the same but a Chinese porter is also known as a a coolie.
Back on topic I also dream of having a panel van for when I'm travelling alone, to see rare birds, visit brother in Sicily etc.. Nice to dream though.

Often thought about this combination myself. I have spoken with a couple of members that have done this and the only problems that seem to have risen are;
Camp sites feeling obliged to up the fees because "" You will be using more electricity, water and dis posial facilities. """. I despair !,
not being allowed on some sites to park so that the awnings from the caravan and van can meet to make a mutual covered area if wet,
