Sink waste problem

just taken delivery of an elddis avante 840 which was a dealer special they called it a rambler 21/6

when we empty the kitchen sink apart from taking an age to empty it also bubbles up in the shower

then drains away in both sink and shower   the upshot is it makes the shower tray dirty

I thought the waste was on a separate tube as there are two outlets

is this normal

on our Bailey the kitchen sink and hand basin are on one outlet and the shower is on its own outlet hence two ,it sounds as if they have got the outlets on yours wrong does the basin in the bathroom empty out of the other outlet?

That's how our Elddis is plumbed.  I've always assumed that the logic is that the shower water is relatively 'clean' and that where appropriate can be discharged into a hedge etc, whereas the sink water should be carried to a disposal point.

This is another thread where they are two interchangeable threads both getting responses.

Can someone report my post please? As we are unable to report our own post.

On our Swift, the two sinks (kitchen and washroom) combine into one outlet, while the shower has its own direct outlet. I was told that this was to stop what is happening to yours.

Same with my Abbey shower on separate drain.  I recommend plugging the drain and using Coca Cola to shift the dirt.

Seems  like  you  might  have  a  partial  blockage after  the  two  drains  join  --  might  I  suggest  that  you  put  the  plug(s)  tightly  in  the  shower  tray  &  put  some  very  hot  water  down  the  drain  of  the  sink  &  see  if  that  shifts  anything.

If  there  is  no  real  improvement  it  might  be  worth  having  a  look  under  the  van,  where  the  two  offending  pipes  join  --  you  might  find  the  combined  pipe  has  a  kink  in  it  thus  restricting  flow.

Of  course  if  its  under  warranty,  the  same  applies  just  with  somebody  from  the  supplier  getting  down  under  and  personal  !!

Bakers,  I  have  reported  as  you  requested,  but  it's  21:35  now,  so  it  might  be  a  day  or  three  til  H-O  reacts  !

The common feature to the last instance is that all posts are being mirrored on both threads.  If a mod then 'locks' one of the threads this really messes things up.

I also posted this on the other thread. This problem really needs sorting, it has been going on for months.

I think normally the shower and sinks are plumbed in separately to prevent this. However, if you join the two together as soon as they exit the van, it is possible to get back pressure. This is not normally a problem for us with the wastemaster, as long as the single feed (from two) into it is not obstructed. However, we get it a lot on service pitches, where there can be 3 or 4 metres of flexible waste tube running along the floor to the drain, resulting in backing up.

They're not in this case. But this is cropping up several times. We seem to be back to the same post or review being repeated too.

Thanks ABM I'd forgotten it is Friday evening 😉

Both sinks should be connected to one of the outlet pipes and the shower tray to the other. Because the sinks are at a higher level than the shower tray if either are connected to the same pipework as the shower tray you will get back flow into the shower tray. I am fairly certain that this will prove to be the source of your  problem.

We have had the problem before and simply put a plug in the shower plug hole and it worked perfectly.
