I must say that it's unlikely that we would have visited Bristol without the BW site being there and we are very likely to go back there, but only if BW (or a replacement in similar location) is there.
The council should think on that, because there must be loads of people that think the same.

I very much doubt the council are remotely intelligent enough to think about that......
Most councils, including our local council are so busy slapping parking charges on town centre car parks that I cant actually remember when I last visited a town centre now, we use retail parks with free parking.....
and it's not the money, often 20 or 50p, it's the faff of it all and having to find the right change...
I can never understand why local Chambers of Trade don't show far more interest in such issues and cause such a stink they cause councils to back down with their greedy, un-business orientated ways.........

Unfortunately, I agree.
Car parking and instant money fom selling land to developers (and possibly other incentives to them for doing so) is an easy target for lazy councillors.
Unfortunately, many councillors these days are in it for the money and neither care, nor have the knowledge / intelligence / expeience to understand commercial realities.

East T, Who suggested I, or others, do not feel able to drive into the cities with an 8m motorhome? I personally drive through many big cities including through the heart of London and even parking up on the streets of Islington, as an example. The problem comes with parking availability in UK cities. At 8m you cannot fit into a parking space or get under a restricted 2m car park barrier.
What hooker128 was saying, I feel, was to get rid of the sites in the cities and concentrate on those away from them, hence my point about not having easy access into where the attractions may be.
Long may the Club try to develop sites for the benefit of all members not just those that are more mobile, in all ways.
hooker128, the same as above. I do drive through them it is the parking. Do you park your caravan in the centre of cities on your way between sites to do some visiting, I bet not. I don't have the benefit of a bus depot to park in and unlike the lorries making deliveries I abide by the parking regulations.

Sites in towns, cities and villages are likely to be much more beneficial to the local economy, than those miles from anywhere. Take somewhere like Hawes for example, you can walk to pubs, restaurants and shops. There is also a very good weekly market and a superb cheese producer / shop. Whilst staying there I have no desire to drive to the nearest Tesco, at I think Catterick, we buy local. Same with Baltic Wharf. By the way, there is an excellent new shop opened along towards Mshed, selling a lot of local produce including some very good bottled ales.
In contrast, if the site is miles from anywhere, we tend to go fully stocked, so will be spending much less in the local economy.
