Slow or blocked water supply

I own a 2013 Bailey Pegasus GT65. Fault finding a slow water supply on one tap (made by Whale) I discovered a set of micro-filters blocked under the screw on tap end. I have not found any reference to this in my caravan literature or on the Whale website so I guess this will probably be news to some. You may have the same system if you don't have a water filter cassette somewhere on your van.

to fix:-

Put the sink plug in to avoid losses. Unscrew the tap end with a suitable spanner (I used an adjustable). If the filters are still in the tap boss you have removed they should just tip out. You will find four metal filters of different mesh sizes stacked together. these will separate to permit cleaning.

Additionally above the metal filters will be a small plastic filter shaped like a squashed ball. This may or may not come out with the tap boss, if not it has a protruding plastic stud you can pinch to pull it out of the tap end. Mine had limescale in them and I made the MISTAKE of putting them in my kettle with descaler and boiling them up which has caused the two halves to split apart and distort so they can't be reassembled. It would appear the 70 deg of the water heater is OK but 100 deg is not! I would guess that to clean them you split the two halves apart but it is only a guess. Assembly is obviously the reverse process. My maintenance engineer knew about these filters but had never found spares.

Hope this helps someone. Sorry if it's already a thread on this discussion site but if so I couldn't find it & if any gurus out there know where I can get replacements for the plastic filters I'd be obliged.
