New Awning rails?
We have a 2016 Coachman Pastiche with the new type of awning rail, affixed to side of caravan. However the offside has no access "point" to enable awning to be placed. Having taken the 'van back to the supplier in order to "open" awning rail, stated that did not have the implement to do so, as the new rail was totally different to the older metal type. What I have seen is that most new type caravans have this type of awning rail! Can anybody help in rectifying? It looks as if it is a type of router will have to be used. Thanks.....

My 2013 Coachman doesn't have the access point on the offside either, but both sides are metal ie aluminium. I have to say though, that they must be as thin as they could make them as I keep snagging the awning bead into the part of the rail it shouldn't be in, consequently spreading the rail.

I had until last year a Bailey 2011 model and that had a GRP awning rail on the nearside only.
I've recently taken delivery of a 2016 Bailey and that has an aluminium awning rail (again on the nearside only) - the interesting thing however was that the channel opening on the 2016 model is smaller (narrower). The effect of this was that we weren't able to use the Thule securing pins for our awning on the new 'van (these are pins that are supposed to insert into the awning rail and be screwed tight to make sure the awning doesn't move forward or back).
What do you mean by 'new type of awning rail' nivag ?

Nivag we had the same problem with our 2016 pastiche contacted dealership who said they could not attempt work due to affecting warranty but agreed to contacting coachman , who then rang us to state they would rectify awning channel provided we take the van up to hull.

To Hull and back - what a nerve. I hope they're paying travelling costs.
