My sister-in-law had to sell her 6 year old Bailey Pegasus 534 caravan.   Her husband had been tragically killed in a cycle accident.  The caravan had been regularly serviced and cared for but she decided to cut her losses and sell it to a dealer.  I cleaned it for her in preparation and it looked immaculate.  None of the Bailey dealers were interested and she contacted the dealers advertising in the back of the Club magazine. One offered £8000 subject to the usual inspection. On examination he found so much damp in the floor pan and adjacent panels that it was virtually a write off.   I was so incensed I contacted Bailey's.  Their attitude was appalling.   They didn't want to know.   Needless to say based on her experience, I wouldn't personally touch a Bailey with a barge pole

    Did you have a second opinion ,as the "damp?" issue is a good excuse to not pay the real price,and is also tried by some dealers when a px price has been "agreed" until they find "damp"when you take it in to change over vans,and then the px price is reducedundecided

    No second opinion needed the damage was obvious when pointed out and the rotten wood could be pulled out by the handful.  The dealer is supplying photographs and a report on the condition.

    What a bummer - this will be the last thing your sister needs I hope it gets sorted without too much more heart ache.  I am right off Baileys for the way they treated the owner of the Motorhome stolen while in their care!

    Off topic: The debacle with Bailey was just plain stupid on their part.

    The c/van should have a 10yr water ingress warranty? I think there should also be some questions asked of the place it was "serviced?"as it should have been picked up before it got as far as you say it is

    Think this should have been picked up by yearly services if they did damp checks each time.  If you have paperwork to prove yearly damp checks were within the allowed limits & it still has water ingress warranty perhaps that may have some influence with Bailey.

    I am sorry to here of the problem and assume your sister in law just wants to close the door on the subject. It does make me wonder if the caravan had been serviced regularly as that level of damage did not happen overnight. If it was serviced and damp readings checked then the person doing this has clearly been very negligent and in normal circumstances a claim against them would be possible. Basically the chance to claim against Bailey was lost and damage that I would assume could have been dealt with reasonably easily is now so extensive the caravan is just spare parts.
