Hi

Thinking of getting a mattress topper for our new Bailey MH. It is a fixed french bed with left side cut away. Any recommendations for a comfortable nights sleep?   We have looked at Duvalay but it looks quite expensive.

you can buy them from anywhere depending on how much you want to pay as I have a small camper the bench seats cushions are really thin so I use 2 toppers both single size but as my bed is narrow fold them in half one is a luxury one from Argos 5cm was £34.99 as it had 15% off and have another one from Poundstretcher its 2.5cm it was £15 most of them are 2.5 cm so look for thicker ones are there are companies that do them made to measure too xx

Last week Aldis were selling mattress toppers. No idea what the quality is like.

Duvalay is expensive but the sleep is worth it - had them on both our vans and consider them excellent - always have gone for their gold standard.

Dunelm do the two in different thicknesses.  Really love mine.

I too found the same issue, the heat generated was too much. I believe the newer ones are better at dispersing the heat but op frightened to try another in case it is the same.

Another vote for Duverlay gold we have had ours for 8 years possibly longer, still like new. Weren't cheap but never regretted our choice. Never had a heat issue ( and I'm a woman of a certain age 😉) but sometimes do at home without their topper.

We have a very good domestic quality but not as thick mattress in our motorhome and have slept on it fine but lately felt we could feel the substructure more when we turned so bought a topper to try. We have had expensive memory foam mattresses in the house in the past and like David said we found them very hot. So we plumed for a duck down feather topper from Aldi to try, I think it was cheap, around £20. We have only just used it for a week and can definitely say it made an improvement. Not a big one but then at that price you cant expect a huge change but the feather one was just comfortable and did not increase the heat generated like a memory foam one would. Perhaps a better feather and thicker one would give greater improvement.

    Regards, Roy

I am still contemplating whether to buy 2 duvulay gold sleeping bags. Are they really worth the extra cash or would a mattress topper alone from another store suffice?

Perhaps another alternative is to consider >camping sleeping mats<?

The self inflating ones are easily rolled up and stored.

It is also worth considering the weight, they do weigh quite a bit if you are already close to your maximum payload.

Bought two duvalays last September. When I washed and tried putting the cover back on the mattress the zip broke. Contacted Duvalay and they said they can't do anything about it as there is only a 30 day guarantee. The nylon zips are too flimsy and come apart easily. After having paid £120 each I think the after sales support is a joke. Would not recommend them for this reason.

30 days?  That's disgraceful!  I am glad I didn't invest in Duvalay - my cheap and cheerful mattress topper is several years old and the zip still intact after several washings.  To get your zip replaced by a seamstress won't be cheap either.

Have just bought a pair ov duvalay toppers in their new Freshtec foam. Not hot and so comfortable,  worth every penny. Also had a great customer service experience as one of the sheets had an oil mark on it, sent a replacement immediate without any quibble.

We used them in the dordogne in a recent heatwave so was a great test of the memory foam moans.

The other benefit is that it takes seconds to make the bed upgreat product.

Just looked at the Duvalay website, wow way too much money for something so simple. Think I will stay with my home made version wink 2" memory foam purchased online, kingsize cut in half (cause its cheaper than 2 singles) make giant pillow case type covers for them. I roll them up and leave them at the window end of the seats where the cabinet is (no one can sit there. A cover thrown over them and they look like a bolster cushion. The duvet rolls up and fits into the corner top shelf along with a fleece blanket should it turn colder while we are away. Pillow goes into a cover that I made which tones in with the upholstery, acts as another bolster cushion opposite end of the settee.
