I don't think a delivery van driving around the site looking for a pitch a particularly good idea. It would also be dependant on someone to let them through the barrier and give them a site plan. On some sites at certain times of the day reception is not staffed. Therefore you would be faced with the prospect of standing by the barrier for up to an hour, possibly in the pouring rain. Then carrying the shopping to your pitch. I think I would rather go and get it myself. Of course if it was allowed, you can be sure someone would pick a slot between 12 and 1 and the delivery would get caught up in the noon rush.

We used to do it for my mum as she could not manage the heavy stuff. She used to get through orange juice 100% at an alarming rate, so there were about 20 litre packets in the order. Half of which had been substituted for orange squash.🤔 Makes you wonder.

I always think that exploring the area where you're staying and using local shops is part of the attraction of visiting different places. Personally I wouldn't want to be sitting on site waiting for a supermarket delivery even if I could choose, say, a 2 hour time slot.

I see the logic-just

Hi TyandMaggie
You will find the information below in the Sites Directory:-
Supermarket deliveries
Club Sites cannot accommodate deliveries from supermarkets. In the interests of health and safety, we aim to keep vehicles on site to a minimum and the unloading of supermarket lorries can obstruct others.
Also, delivery times do not necessarily coincide with reception opening times and drivers often require assistance from site staff to find pitches. There have also been instances of deliveries have turning up before members have arrived on site. Details on nearby shops are available on site.Kind Regards
Tracy

Thanks Tracy, you sum up the extent of Club site customer service very well.
No reception office staff to accept deliveries, no storage facilities at reception, no offer of help for motorhomers who can't easily shop. And this is the new, reformed Motorhome Club. Ho, ho, ho.

I'm glad that the club doesn't allow it. I don't want extra vehicles coming on site disturbing what peace there is. I have yet to see a delivery van anywhere observing a slow pace in case of children and I don't want warden's time wasted looking after people's shopping. You weigh the pros and cons of caravan versus motorhome and that is one of the cons of a motorhome that it isn't easy to shop. Your choice.
I say that as a regular user of online shopping at home for almost everything.

T&M, there are numerous reasons why you might like a supermarket delivery to a club site, but for various reason, C&MC will not permit it.
There are other threads on this subject somewhere.

I see shopping with a MH as a pro. Tuck it at the back of a supermarket carpark, do the shopping, wheel it out to the MH with no need for bags, pack it straight in the fridge, job done and head off for some sight seeing.

That is a typical post from one of the minority of "members" who have no consideration or thought for anything or anybody but themselves, who by their "lifestyle" have inflicted the problems on themselves, then blame every one but themselves for the problem
