Name change
Very surprised about the club name change as the first I became aware of it was when I received my renewal notice which I almost binned without reading as I thought it was junk mail. The renewal notice made no reference to the name change and seemed to assume I knew all about it
If a notification of this event was sent out then I didn't receive it and any media notification (if there was one) obviously completely passed me by.
I definitely think there was a bit of lack of communication by the committee in this respect.
PS ... I have no problem with the new title but I bet it will still be called The Caravan Club by the members anyway.

Oh dear Roy. I can only assume that you don't read on here, or Facebook, or receive the Club magazine, but it has been a major topic of conversation for a couple of months now. There are lots of threads to read on here about the changes, if you want to find out more, and member reactions to the changes.
You are correct in the respect of the name change though, most folks seem to think of it as the CC still! A bit of change is probably long overdue, but so long as folks still get away and stay at some nice places, that's what is most important.

In fairness David, if he has much of a life outside Caravan Club politics he wont be greatly bothered by the word "motorhome" being inserted into the clubs title....
It's hardly earth shattering....

Every member was sent a letter explaining the change. Every member that has signed up for electronic communications with have been sent an e-mail. Since the change everyone should have received at least one magazine. Since the changed everyone should have received their site handbook all of which have the new name and logo on them. Unless the OP has been away from home since the announcement of the rebranding its difficult to understand how in some form or another he was not aware of the change?

And the new stickers, along with a letter in an old logo envelope, so that it didn't confuse folks........

Ah yes, the stickers. I think I 'filed' mine. I have a much nicer one now......

Hi Roy
I am sorry that you didn't receive communication from us and that the first you heard of the rebrand was via your renewal documents. I'm glad you are happy with the new name!!
If you need any more information just call in and speak to one of us but as it is stated above there has been plenty of Social Media coverage and communications sent out via all channels in the past few weeks.
You post implies you haven't had a new 2017/18 Sites Directory either? Let me know if you need one and I'll get one out to you ASAP.
Thanks all
Helen

I moved this thread from the Story Section. If it is a genuine problem hopefully the OP will reply to you. However if it was just an attempt at an April Fool story, it was posted on 1st April, perhaps he might not. As he is a member might it be an idea to contact him direct?

Currently at Forfar Lochside and after walking round the site I reckon it should be renamed the Caravan And Occasional Motorhome Club, only 7 Motorhomes on a fairly full site😂

Quite a few used it for the first time in a long while to complain about the change though, and have not been seen since. So the word got through to them. I suppose it is just possible to have missed it if you have been away at non CAMC sites for the last few months and don't subscribe to emails. However, if at home there were the stickers, a couple of other bits of unsolicited mail, two magazines and the site book. Therefore on balance I would think it an AF.

The new title is unwieldy, and will cost the club a large amount of money to change all the signs on every site, money that could have been better spent elsewhere! CL owners will also be out of pocket for no valid reason whatsoever as they will also all have to buy new signs for their sites.
Why did our club feel the need to change the title, without actually consulting with all the members?
On page 678 of the 2017/18 Sites Directory & Handbook, the definition of caravan is given as: 'a trailer caravan, motorhome, trailer tent or folding camper.'
I am now left to wonder how long it will be before the club becomes: The Caravan, Motorhome, Trailer Tent and Folding Camper Club?

I didn't receive a letter or email about the change I was only made aware of it as I happen to have the club on my Facebook account and saw they had posted a big announcement being made at the show at 10.30 the next day so looked to see what it was and thought is that it so once again as single member I'm at the bottom of the ladder I do not get any member benefits ,discounts on the shops are no good when there aren't any in my area and 2 for 1 aint any use to a single person or discounts on new cars

You too have left out us campervan owners. Just booking a site and I am given a joice for outfit of caravan motorhome trailer tent. None of them It's a campervan. When I had a motorhome other motorhome drovers would wave as we passed. Since I down sized to a campervan no wave. They just drive passed with noses in the air. We now feel most unwelcome on CC sites and demand Campervan be included in the name of the club to give us equal status.

Whoops duplicate.

Demand?
I demand free pitches for a year but I ain't going to get em.
Why all the fuss about a silly name? There are far more important things in life. Relax.
By the way, I don't wave to anyone on the road so please don't be insulting to us MH drovers.

I wave at quite a few motor caravan drivers, and also shout rude words at them. Alas, it makes no difference - they still wander across the white line towards me.

Nothing wrong with motor caravans, well unless your behind one and he's draining 25 or so litres of waste water when he leaves the site and you just happen to to leave at the same time and be behind him, but I'm sure the likes of our foramites like Tin Wheeler and co wouldn't dream of such practices...

You're right in one respect, H, as I never have and never will do that.
Now, if having already drained the fresh tank, I might leave the valve open to allow the last remnants of unused fresh water to drain out. Could you tell the difference when following at a safe distance?
I'm pleased to see you embracing the inclusivity of the club and not trying to alienate MH-ers or individuals in any way.

I can't understand why there had to be a rebrand in the first place. Firstly, it must have cost the club a small fortune to change the name. The club say's that it has "upgraded" the club.... How?? There has always been motorhomes on sites, so no change there, or apparent upgrade to be seen. Secondly, why were members not asked if they would like to see this change implemented first, instead of telling us that it has been done regardless?
Also, the "since 1907" should not apply either, as I joined in 2001, and joined the caravan club, not the caravan and motorhome club.
And as for the logo..........

The name change is a farcical waste of our money. We weren't even consulted before they brought in the boys on the big money from the agencies. What was wrong with caravan club - it is a generic term covering tourers, motorhomes, camper vans, pop ups etc. I think that the exec have made a huge blunder that they will pay for in one way or another,

Yes they are still complaining, including site staff who are pulling their hair out at the utter waste of funds,When they are being asked to reduce costs on sites and unable to get funds to carry out basic maintaince, as is noted by the increasing amount of comments when members post reviews
