We drove past it for several years, brue. Then, one very hot day a/couple of years ago we decided to stop for a drink on the patio at the back and saw the food they were serving. We were immediate converts! And the bonus for us is that they're very dog friendly. Well worth a visit next time you're down that way.

Just down until Tuesday this time, Millie, to get the van opened and set up for the year. Off in the tourer to Moorhampton over Easter and then back down here at the end of April. Have a great time wherever you're off to. I assume Mr H's eyesight is all sorted now?

Didn't know about booking specific pitches. I will find out.  The wardens there were not volunteers when we were there last year.  Nicola and Gary had been the CC wardens and have carried on with the NT. They are a lovely young couple.

A day of industrial cleaning (vacuuming/washing walls, washing all the pots of the dresser etc ) as we have a rather big event coming up soon. The concensus is we have too much "stuff" . Much more to do, particularly outside. As relaxation on a day off tomorrow I'm going to sort all my CDs and shuffle them up (in alphabetical order of course) to fit in the yet more shelves I've dug out. I seem to have bought quite a lot lately.

Is the upcoming big event something you want to share Goldie? 😉. Must be a biggy to warrant a real good spring clean and cull. 😲

Yes, we have been wandering around Europe for 3-4 months in 8 of the last 10 years on that basis and have frequently ended up somewhere completely different to where we had thought we would!

Not been doing it as long as you only 6 years this year but we quite often set out with one plan and end up doing something completely different. Weather is usually the reason we change plans.

Sounds like you are going to be covering a fair few miles this trip, it will certainly give the new car a good test.

I like the OH's thoughts on going to Croatia and agree while in Italy why not wink maybe do that and miss out the Baltic, don't forget the first 2 weeks of June everywhere will be full of Germans.

We have had to make a few changes since I bought the washing machine, it sits in the shower while we are travelling and we don't often use our own shower, especially when abroad as the facilities are usually good. We do have to be a bit mindful  about weight, though we do have a good allowance.

I have a bad habit of taking too much food, why I don't know, its not like there aren't any shops. Must try harder this year not to do it undecided Clothes are another thing, with going to France I shouldn't need to pack much but there again I always say "I might need this" or "that might come in handy" "what if it rains" "it might be cold" OH would just pack as little as possible but me I want to take the lot embarassed

Not sure if I'm going to take the vacuum this time, the carpets x 2 can easily be lifted and brushed outside, take minutes to sweep and wash floor over, so might leave it at home undecided

My job with dinner2go has finally come to an end. At 6 p.m. this evening, the manager sent me a text message to say that he no longer needs me to continue working. I was originally due to work until 10 p.m. He said he will meet me tomorrow to settle final payment of money due and collect company property meaning uniforms and food boxes. So that's it, the job's over! He wished me good luck for my future! It seems that he has found a new driver to take over the work in the Worthing area.

All seems a bit strange Malcolm. Was dinner2go the only company you worked for? I hope he gives you a proper explanation as to why he no longer needs you as you seem to have gone beyond the call of duty for what you get out of it.

I suspected something was wrong when the number of orders I was getting was dropping. So when I questioned it, he told me that he had recruited a new driver and that I was no longer needed.

I've applied to Dominos, Broadwater, Worthing and also their outlet in Portslade have driver vacancies which I have applied to as well. When I spoke to the Dominos manager in Broadwater, he said that he only has Friday and Saturday evening work available, two and a half hours each evening. So I am waiting to hear from the Portslade manager.

    Oh dear me, Malcolm!

Really sorry to hear your news, not what you need at all.

However, trying to turn a negative into a positive this could be an opportunity for you and your wife to "cast your net" wider than the fast food industry and follow up on some of the suggestions that have been offered to you on many occasions, by the forum members on here?

Maybe, a change of area might help on the job front, unless there are ties that keep you in the south, I don't really know.

As David says, it seems a bit strange that D2G have made this decision and by text is even worse!! I, too would certainly be asking why this has happened so quickly.

I wish you luck with whatever you do and can only hope that you find more suitable employment very soon.

Malcolm it all seems very quick and strange and you certainly dont deserve to be treated like that. As most on here have said you have really given to Dinner2go but had little in return and now this. I sincerely hope you get full reimbursement of what's owed to you.

I echo all Yertiz has said. Please should Dinner2go ever ask you back you say a very firm no thanks. As one door closes another opens look on this as an opportunity to find more rewarding, in all senses of the word especially in quality of life. Certainly in our town there are job vacancies on lots of shop windows.

I'll be thinking of you whilst you get self sorted. There's a new moon I hope you took my advice about turning your money 😉.

I echo B2's thought too, once bitten, as they say, although I do think that this will be the case in the near future when the new driver fails to turn up! undecided

Sorry to here about your job Malcolm, not a nice way to terminate someone's employment. Particularly someone who has put themselves out for that employer. However, as others have said, look on this as an opportunity to move on to something better. I just did a quick search on the Tesco web site and they have 3 jobs for Tesco dot com drivers at the Shoreham Extra. All part time admittedly, but one was 27 hours a week, over 5 days. Perhaps worth an application. Make sure you get a testimonial singing your praises from this guy, before you part company.

Yes, I can believe that. My wife went for an interview about a year ago for a job in Tesco Horsham and she was told then that Tesco don't do full-time work contracts, all part-time jobs. However, I think the minimum wage rate has gone up to £7.50 per hour so 27 hours at that rate could be a worthwhile income.
