This may be a silly question but i was wondering if anyone knew of any websites that can help with route planners. For example

You want to set off for 7 days around Scotland, you want to start from point A, take in point C & G at some point during the journey and finish at Z. You don't want to drive for more than 2 hours between sites. so the website will throw up suggested routes and sites to take?

I use Google maps too, they give a good indication of journey time and distance, with a van I add on a bit more time wise.

I am very old fashioned, I still use MSAutoroute on my computer for planning my trips away. For me it has the advantage that I can save the maps and use them in my website.

To be honest I use good old fashioned maps more than anything, it's easy to choose routes and calculate time by distance. smile

thanks for the replies, I have used google maps and manually doing it, but you have to rely on google maps showing every single site, CL, pub site etc. Basically i was hoping to give one input and 1 output showing me everything from main suggested route based on certain criteria complete with site suggestions and then possibly alternatives route suggestions with similar but not all criteria.

Maybe there is an opportunity for a new business venture/website here  undecidedlaughing

We use, like others and yourself, Google maps, with Street view being used to look in detail, and when going abroad viamichelin.

I once imported into Google earth all the POIs from Archies Campings and it was a nightmare, as it was far far too cluttered, so went back to using Google maps, choosing the start and end, adding places that I may want to go via or stop, then saving the map.

If you are looking to stay in say Glasgow just zoom out to give a reasonable area then type 'camping' in the search bar to bring up sites on the map. You can then get their info/website and decide if they are suitable.
