I thought that. There'll be quite a lot of wet performers if each school has the same number in their club. I can see a few sheltering with me under my golfing umbrella. BTW that's what a gamp is. Ambitious is not the word I would have used but the weather at the moment is looking good however it could all change before half past four and the predicted finish time is half past six if we're lucky. Something to eat might be in order as well😋

Thanks for that. I'm sure it'll all go off swimmingly especially if we get heavy rain.😓

Thanks Bakers2, sadly I never got a call back yell so decided to call in myself. After going through many options for a ferry crossing and checking out different dates and options being very flexible like they say the prices just were far to much, so I have gone with another booking company and got a better price smile this club is sadly letting its members down in just about every way.frown

The Smart car was supposed to have been ready yesterday but we got a phone call this morning from the repairer saying that the door skin hadn't been delivered to them yet so now it looks like it won't be ready until next week.yell

Blimey Malcolm it seems an age since it was damaged and I thought it went in the next day or so! I do hope you don't loose out on the claim and subsequent hire, I trust the invalid scooter had insurance? The cost of the hire car alone must be racking up 😲.

Strange that they took the car for repair before getting the parts required.

It would not have been undrivable if it was only some scratches on the door, so really no need to have had the hire car so long.

Most policies have a limited time on the hire car, have you  checked that  you are fully covered for so long?

Malcolm why did they want it in so early? Could you not have used until the skin arrived? That way drop off hire car for minimum time collect, costs held down to the bare minimum. I'm sure it would have been more economical for you fuel wise?

I can't believe it's taken this long to repair just a few minor paintwork scratches! They've had the car for 11 days already. The insurance has all the details of the third party car that did the damage so they must be dealing with hire costs etc.

That happened to me a few years ago.  Car quite drive able "awaiting parts".  I had a hire car for ages!  No wonder insurance premiums keep rising.

Son-in-law had a set to with a motor cycle the other week, car (VW) was picked up for repair on the Monday and returned on the Thursday, he did not take a hire car to keep the value of the claim down as it is quite likely to end up as a claim on his own insurance.

Even when not at fault, there is an obligation to minimise your losses as far as I remember.  This seems to particularly apply to the use of hire cars.

Even so, I would be worried.  Are you claiming your excess and uninsured losses off the other guy?

Do you have a time limit on your policy regarding a hire car?  Ours does.

A third party will only reimburse what are considered to be reasonably incurred costs. 11 days, so far, of car hire would not appear reasonable to me for such minor damage. In the days when I worked in insurance motor claims I would havd rejected that part as out of hand for such minor damage. Possibly reconsidering if a decent reason for such a long period was given. That was 30 plus years ago and by today's standards very generous in considering settlement. So if I were you I'd be asking questions if your repairers as a matter of urgency so I could argue my case with the third party. Your insurance company will not pursue them in the same way as you would. It'll be small money for them and not worth the cost in terms of staff time to argue. I do hope you're not out of pocket as a result of all this.

Just remembered something that came up when booking our car in for service yesterday,  which i had not had to do before, they offered a curtesy car but i need to get a code via DVLA website that they can use to clarify that i have the relevant documents, cannot do it yet as code valid for 21 days

Are they using a claims handling company?

These 3rd parties will take a cut on the car hire costs, so in their interest for you to have the hire car for as long as possible, but unlikely to be in your interests as B2 said

Yes this has been the case for 15 months or more. We had to do it for NZ hire in February  last year. When it was introduced it was a three day limit and we were doing 10 days in Thailand before hitting NZ 😲. Luckily it was changed before we went but meant getting Internet access and doing it from somewhere where you couldn't be certain about security! An added Street whilst your holiday 😂😂.

I think is something to do with the paper part of the licence  now having been abolished.

The code is used to check/print out your licence details.
