It seems serious to me, JVB. Canenriot isn't a poster given to wind ups, unlike a lot.

    Thanks Tinwheeler for your support.

Its not a windup , i wouldnt know how to go on a forum and do a wind up post.

I was actually given this information this afternoon on live web chat on the club web site. They will give you any site wardens names if you so wish , they are just not going to publish it onine after the reason i stated.

I don't doubt it's true but I think the club have rather got their wires crossed.

Makes perfect sense to me. I was surprised that the CC ever considered posting such a list on the site

Whilst no reason to not believe you Canenriot, it would be more considerate and appropriate if this information was to come from an official source such as a Staff Member.

The information is solely a list of names and CAMC sites. To say it causes a security issue is another example of hiding behind legislation, which is not true. The list does not contravene any principles of the 1998 Data Protection Act, so this cannot be used as an excuse.

If the CAMC does not want to publish the list, they are perfectly within their rights to just say so and not hide behind the umbrella of "security" and leave it to a member to spread the word!

I always thought it was an odd thing to publish. Isn't the standard advice not to advertise when you are away, particularly in an online environment.

    Hi everyone,

We’ve had a number of requests for a list of the names of wardens on UK sites this year. Historically this information was published in the magazine and/or on our website.

In light of the new General Data Protection Regulation coming into force in May 2018, we would need to have a legitimate purpose for publishing the information and this could require obtaining consent from every individual named on the list.  With some 800 Club staff working on the network, together with Affiliated site owners, it’s not practical to do this.  Another requirement of the new law is to keep published personal data to a minimum, which could reduce the benefit of publishing it at all, and a process would have to be introduced to ensure it is continually maintained, accurate and up to date.

If you’d like to know the names of wardens on a particular site, our contact centre agents will be happy to let you have the details.

So I was correct in what I posted above! Just an observation on my part, no prior knowledge.

If my employer gave what is effectively my home address on an open website they would have a very limited window of opportunity to remove it pending legal action on my part
