Leaking gas locker door
We have a new lunar quasar caravan 462. On our first trip out we unfortunately had rain, and found that the front gas locker leaked soaking everything inside. We have since been back to the dealer. They said the seal was not fixed correctly. On returning from dealer, some 15 miles, again in rain, the water was on the inside of the door and in bottom of looker. Has anyone else had this problem?

I think that happened with every van we ever owned.
There will be vent holes in the floor of the locker to let any leaking gas escape (Do not bung them up!) and these will allow water from the road to splash up into the locker.

It happened on our Clubman. After adjustment it still does but only slightly. I am quite happy with the little that gets in.
Never happened with our Swift Charisma ...................... all the leaks were into the main 'van!! I know where my preference for leaks is

We do not have a front locker,have not noticed any of side lockers letting in water,and after todays over 100 miles of towing in heavy rain and plenty of surface and standing water,we are glad we have not got a front locker,as in past c/vans with them they have all let water in

I have an old Ace Award Brightstar caravan and the front locker doesn't let water in, even when I don't close the lid properly, Everything remains dry, I would be annoyed if everything inside constantly got wet. It 'could' be down to the shape of the rubber seal. Look at the profile (cross section) of yours and compare with those on other caravans. If possible buy a different shaped seal and replace the duff one.

Thank you all for your replies. I am returning to the dealer next week and they will try to adjust the hinges. I feel the door is not pressing on the seal when closed, letting the rain run over top of the seal and into looker. Fingers crossed.

I have been back to dealer today, and had hinges adjusted. Unfortunately the locker still leaks. Green trees are ordering new door and hinges, so hope that does the trick. Regards to you all.

My Lunar front locker took in water when the road conditions were bad and spray from my car, adjusted (bent) the lock arms and it improved immensely. Now only with the worse weather do I get a little leakage, so it's renamed the front wet locker.

I don't know if this helps but I had a similar problem last year with the number 5 door, i.e. the one which gives access to the under bed storage in my Bailey Ranger. When I took the door to pieces there was a foam seal between the insert and the frame on the part that lifts up. One corner was soaking. I removed the foam and resealed with loads of silicone which did the trick. Warning, the insert is clipped onto the fame and it is very difficult to remove these clips without damaging them or the frame. But if under warranty let dealer sort it and get them to replace the access door.

Re rubber seals leaking why are all rubber seals fitted to gas locker doors and windows fitted with the joint at the bottom ?

Our new Lunar Quasar had a problem with the front hatch. It is made of two sheets of GRP. But they are only riveted together at the top and not bonded. When driving through heavy rain they fill up with water. When we arrived on site and lifted the hatch to turn on the gas, the water drained out on us. It was water tight at the bottom, but not at the top! My dealer reckoned it was a known problem with a known fix. They drilled a series of holes along the bottom edge of the inside GRP panel so that the water could drain straight out. In theory, when I get on site the rain water should have already drained away. I was worried about any water freezing whist in storage and splitting the two parts.

Tony. I have the exact same problem on my 2017 quasar 574. Did the dealer drill the holes along the lower section as a warranty repair and also have you found it to be successful. I would appreciate your advice as I am thinking of doing exactly the same thing myself. but dont want to invalidate the warranty.

The locker door was replaced but still let water in. The workshop manager,at the time, sent an email to lunar, which I had a link to. Their reply was that it should not leak this much so to investigate. A fitter came to our house and adjusted the hinges as tight as possible. Finally the problem is cured. If only the workshop fitters bothered as much as the you lad who visited us, the problem would have been fixed months ago.

So found these old postings because I have this problem of a leaky gas locker on my 2019 Lunar Lexon 560.
I wondered
a) would it be possible to add a third lock in centre of door
b) has anyone tried it? and
c) would it work?
