Truma BBQ point - product recall
I'm sure most folk who are effected will have had a letter about this, but just in case you haven't, here goes:
Truma are initiating a Europe wide preventative safety action on some of their gas BBQ points. Failure of this component can cause gas to leak which in unfavourable circumstances can lead to gas deflagra ton and potential injuries. As yet, there has been no reports of such an incident, however they have decided to replace all affected products. If the date on the ring is from 2016 or 01.2017 the BBQ point will need to be replaced free of charge. The advice is not to use the gas system until the BBQ point has been replaced. You should contact your dealer to arrange to have your BBQ point replaced.
Please check your BBQ point and stay gas safe!

Just popped in to our caravan dealers to let them know that our caravan is effected by the Truma gas BBQ point recall. They are not expecting the parts in until April/May so can't book us in for the work to be carried out until they get the parts. I'll need to send off to Trauma for one on the temporary 'block off' devices.

DSB. Hi, Checked ours after receiving the recall notice from Truma a fortnight ago. Fortunately ours is OK, however I believe that the instructions state that you can isolate the BBQ feed at the valve block (ours is under the sink unit) Did check and our BBQ point has it's own valve... Would that work on your van? Save cancelling any plans! Shuckford...

We picked our new van up and a week later got the letter, ours has to be changed too but I'm surprised the dealer didn't look for this at PDI stage, the Truma statement had been out a week. I have to wait until new stocks arrive, they'd just received 30 new taps, all spoken for, looks like I'll be getting the charcoal out again.

Our van is affected
Turned off the supply to BBQ and emailed for temporary stopper which arrived next day! Easy to fit.
Will get replaced when due service in June

As for gas isolation valves, it's a good idea to familiarise yourself with the location and function of them when you get a new caravan, just in case you need to use them urgently for any reason.
Also worth labelling them if they're not already.

We purchased our van last year and are in the same position.
Called Truma and within 24 hours the stopper arrived in the post.
Called the dealer (Marquis) who funnily enough are now receiving several calls about the recall. They too haven't got the parts yet and are taking names and will call back to book the vans in for one hour slots on certain days. This isn't ideal with no dates in mind and I feel the need to chase them will be on the cards.
Van due a service in July and the part could be replaced then. Annoying as that's after several pre booked plans. Could be purchasing a small gas bottle to run the cadac!!!
Good comment about the isolation value. Top of my agenda for the weekend.

Got the letter from Truma in February and checked our valve to find out it was one of the affected batch. Got another letter from the manufacturer of our caravan so good level of communication. As our caravan was booked in for it's annual service at the end of February we rang our dealer who confirmed they had just received some stock of the replacement parts and would do the work with the service.
Still received the temporary stopper from Truma without asking for one and the valve was replaced with the service.
Although none of us want a problem with a piece of equipment I can say that the service from both Truma and our dealer was excellent and caused us minimum disruption.

According to the little article in the CAMC magazine, this only effects the outlets with a yellow cap and valve handle and certain part numbers (not got the magazine now so cannot check the numbers).
We had our outlet replaced a while ago (different issue) but ours has red fittings, so I guess we are ok.
Incidentally, our BBQ outlet runs off the pipework in the front locker and I'm sure there isn't a valve other than the one on the fitting itself?
