It's not just the delivery fee but the payments we make to restaurants like kfc, Macdonalds, Uncle Sams. If there is an order from a restaurant where we do not pay on collection, like Brio, for example and the customer pays, say £100 cash for a big order. If dinner2go owe us £150, we keep the cash and their debt to us is reduced by this amount so that they would be left owing us £50 which they settle through the bank.

This system would be a lot fairer if they settled the paperwork daily like they agreed to do when we first started this job. Unfortunately, they leave debts to us accumulating for several days. On one occasion, the paperwork went to 7 days so that there was such a large amount owing to us, that we had to say to them that we couldn't do any more orders until the debt to us was settled. Then we were paid immediately.

There's a limit to the amount of payments we can keep making to restaurants for customer orders before we ourselves run out of available funds which is why we have to insist on payment.

Washing and ironing now all donesmile, managed to get another couple of hours in the garden, grass still not ready for cutting. Went for a bike ride this afternoon only 5 miles as we need to ease back into to it. Got back home to find the back garden near the bird bath covered in feathers, eventually found the poor bird under a bush a collard dove. Thankfully it was dead, it had been partly eaten frown

Bakers2, glad you had a good time away, sorry that you got so much wind, its not nice when your in the van is it. Lanzarote does have a lot of wind for most of the year, usually drops around Sept/Oct then picks back up again come November, this year is was very strong for most of the time we were there, managed to get a great tan thoughcool

H&T, glad you had a great time away too, what was the CL like?

IanH, nice to see you back, glad you had a good time.

Forgot to say OH and his group at 'Shed was successful at getting the funding they were after, they have got a temporary place to work from for a year so the funding will pay for the rent on that. They are still trying to get somewhere more permanent though.

KJ, did you go and have a look at the 'Shed in your area? think you would be a good  candidate with all your skills.

Tammygirl had TV on in van as we breakfasted and tidied this morning most unusual for us. Great programme with young Maureen Lipman about loneliness in old age and what's out there. She went to a mens shed in Hull or nearby and was welcomed. Looked very interesting all round, somewhere you can go to learn how to use a screwdriver - should you be lucky enough to have escaped such delights 😉.  My dad and mum both good a diy and make do and mend so my brother and I had no choice but to learn 😂.  Been so grateful for those skills. But if I was left alone there are a few I've allowed to slip as I have a willing helper!

Am I alone in having problems with posting on here tonight?

It seems very temperamental.  Takes ages to reply, I think I've been logged out but haven't.  Generally slower, is that possible? Than usual.

Ours didn't but now at least one does. I think it depends on volunteers they can call on. At least we can now recycle small electrical items with our roadside collection.

It  will  depend  on  whether  the  Charity  can  get  a  Qualified    Portable  Appliance  Test   { P A T }   engineer  to  do  the  required  testing  &  sign  the  relevant  paperwork  --  Health  &  Safety  can  be  a  nuisance  at  times  but  really  is  for  our  own  safety  in  this  instance.

Bakers, I saw that programme this morning, was having a lazy start as OH was out at Audiology getting his hearing aids looked at.

I recorded that bit for him when she went to the Men's shed, they seemed to be quite well set up, they are popping up all over the place now, good thing really as it was highlighted this morning Men are not the best at going out and socialising especially when they have been widowed.

OH's group had to do a presentation at the weekend (to do with the finding) they took some of the bird boxes that they had made and sold all 5 of them in minutes, with orders for more taken on the day. This money will go back into other projects, they have other projects to do locally as well. OH says the members are really keen now with more coming along to see what its all about.

That's what I meant in my post, about depending what volunteers they can get.  But I missed out the crucial part about PAT and qualified electricians embarassed

Tammygirl that sounds like a real result.  I'm sure there'd be a market for all sorts of things I know I'd be happy to aid a good cause and probably be able to bag a bargain too boot.

TG.......I found my local Mens Shed is in Clydebank, so not that far to go, but the women in my life have been keeping me busy lately, so I have not had time to take things any further.

Once all our trips for 2017 are over, I should have more time, though OH has recently been hinting about a new kitchen come autumn  surprised.

I don't have the fairy that means the only stage for laundry is washing get ROFL 😂😂😂 otherwise were straight from trip away. Going to be considering out next jaunt 😆

I tried that, Ian but the manager wouldn't agree. He said it was a condition of the job that we use our own money to provide sufficient float to fund these payments which we would be re-imbursed by dinner2go.  He said that if I didn't do this, I would be out of this job. Apparently, the Brighton drivers carry £300 cash float for payments to restaurants and also to give change to customers who choose to pay cash on delivery, which they finance from their own money.

Malcolm I can't believe you're still working for them. LONG  barge pole. Find a proper part time job. Less stress more reliable income plenty of time to enjoy life. None of us know how long were here for it ain't a dress rehearsal. I know you'll carry on regardless of any advice you're given, so I'm sorry for you, but the only person who can help you is you.

Bakers2, I tried changing jobs before when I worked for Dominos, who did pay the legal minimum wage but they cut my hours to the bare minimum, so that in the end I was getting less money overall. Furthermore, if the customer orders stopped, you would either be sent home, so less pay, or they would ask you to work inside the restaurant washing dishes or cleaning windows. So yes you do get more time off but no money to enjoy that time off! True, they were within the legal minimum wage but they made sure they got their ounce of blood, sweat and tears for it!

Also they wouldn't allow my wife to help me. So she had to stay in the caravan whilst I was at work. She was not allowed to sit in the car even though it's our own car that we were using for their work!

Last year when you were "observed",It was your young wife who did the work (on site anyway) and by your comments on here you seem to just drive and your wife does the deliveries, as you have to stay with the car because of parking,so who actually should get most of the "hard earned" moneywink

Yes but Dominos wouldn't allow her to work at all! So the dinner2go boss told me to leave Dominos and work for dinner2go instead.
