Tow Cars
Hi,
Could someone please explain to me why the club insists on show casing tow cars that that the average working man like myself cannot possibly afford without years of credit in my case, what about telling us about decent tow cars that have been recommended by other members, sorry if this has been in a previous discussion.
I fully appreciate that the club has to think of all members but could there at least be a comprise.

I can remember when the club did a good write up on the Skoda Octavia and other Skoda variants

The Club only showcases new cars but you should be able to get back issues that have cars that although you couldn't afford new will now be around your price range. Of course there is always these forums you can ask as a number of members give critics on different cars as well. If you say what your budget is and what car you are considering I am sure there are members who will give you any info you require.

For an inexpensive reliable tug, get a used Mondeo.

Practical Caravan website has videos of towcar tests they have conducted in the last few years. The tests cover important aspets like power and stability, and it should be possible to find cars that will now be at a reasonable price level as they go back 4 or 5 yrs.

Frankly I do not think that is the case. There have been several tests on smaller cars with some to my mind not big enough to interest most people. These are cars from the manufacturers test fleets however and manufacturers fit very few of them with tow bars so it is more of a case of getting hold of what you can.
The other problem is the test cars are usually high spec and loaded with extras and you can cut the purchase price considerably by taking a more basic version.
