Dedicated area for Motorhomes on club sites..
Now that Motorhomes/Motorcaravans have officially been incorporated into the trading title of the Caravan Club Limited....will there be a time when they have their own dedicated area of a club site....

I hope not, as long as I'm a member and paying the same fees why should I have a separate area. If you mean an area like an Aire then again like JV said Why? I see these as something separate to camp sites an alternative so to speak. I quite like being mixed up with other campers, be them caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents.

I can't see an argument for a dedicated area for MHs any more than for dog owners, adults only etc etc. Motorhomers are equally welcome as caravanners to use any area of any site, as, of course, are "campervanners"!
However, if the OP is thinking of dedicated service points then, yes the more of these that are updated and provided for MHs the less times we'll see them connecting hoses up to standard water taps to fill up their tanks!!

Are you trying to be deliberately divisive?
You used the word 'incorporated' - that is the key.
Ah, yes, Payment at booking page 3. I see what you're up to now. Good try but we know a wind up (or troll) when we see it.

Give the OP some credit instead of jumping down his/her throat. The advantage could be smaller pitches in a given area, no awnings allowed so a gain in pitch numbers, a win win for all members, otherwise there would not be much point.

Nope. He's anti MH - see his other posts.
Also, think about MH pitches empty and Caravanners unable to book big enough pitches to get their units on.

A dedicated area for motorhomes and campervans is common on overseas sites - they get reduced prices for reduced, close together spacing, but I can't see this Club allowing reduced, close together spacing, even though it regularly takes place for overnighting on UK motorway service areas and isn't frowned on there.

It would be great if they were all user friendly 😉. Designed like most other things including the webpages. It'll just about do the task even if it's hard to use 🤐.
Other than decent service points, including those that won't block the road for other site users, I can see no justification we all pay the same so should have same choice. Including grass hardstandings and awnings 😀

Actually , Tinwheeler, I am not..... I might even consider buying one in a few years time...although I would have to tow a car behind so not to suffer any 'towing' withdrawal symptoms. My 'stance' as some have put, is simply my personal opinion that Motorhomes should have had their own identity/club when they were first introduced into the leisure industry.....just as the Caravan Club did back in 1907.
The dedicated area statement was based on what I have heard from many members (both caravan and motorhome users)..that a dedicated area would be more practical in terms of 'frequent movement' and 'one night stop' users...
Being a realist..i concede it would require a major shift in policy...and some investment....but I was just asking the question...on a forum.
Sincere apologies if you felt alienated...

This created a heated confrontation at a very well known site in Dorset, in September of last year...when a small camper van (nothing at all against camper vans ...had a VW myself in another life) arrived on site to occupy one of two available service pitches. Arriving immediately behind him was a very large twin axle caravan to occupy the other available service pitch. Problem...campervan took (as first come basis) the very large pitch leaving the smaller one for the twin axle. No way was he going to be able to pitch and asked Mr Campervan if they could swap.
Noway hosay..I was here first and i pay the same fee said Mr Camper van . End of. Not quite, Mr Warden was summoned who tried to intervene and even relocate Mr Twinaxle but as there were no more service pitches available the Mr Twinaxle went to another site...there was much heated exchange between Mr Campervan, Mr Twinaxle and I thought at one point Mr Warden was going to lose it as well...

Practical to what end though? I am not sure about this frequent movement theory. Do you mean they go off site for the day? Well I take my rather large tow car off site usually every day as well. And this one night stop? Again I've never noticed MH just stopping one night any more than caravaners. On a busy day there are vans leaving on most, if not all days.
Also you get your own way and have a MH dedicated part of the site, I arrive with my van and no pitches are left in the caravan dedicated part? what do I do?
No we all pay the same membership fee, we're all enjoying our great lifestyle on our great sites. There is no need to segregate.

I can't believe that the twin axle was not able to pitch - it may be have been tight but that's about it. On all site information you are told the max length that can be accommodated on site. If the twin axle ignored that advice that it is entirely their own fault. If however their length was within the max length then they should have been able to pitch.
Actually I probably wouldn't have moved either. Its my holiday and my prime time away. First come first served. And I certainly wouldn't have got into any heated conversations.

What? I didn't realise you are suggestion such a rather 'innovative' approach? You are really suggesting that a caravan couldn't book a pitch as they have a caravan? And the other way round of course? Wouldn't that be throwing money away.
I'm starting to agree fully with TW
