I think it might depend on how early the ferry leaves. The Brighton site is only about 15 miles away from the Newhaven ferry terminal. However the site entrance is controlled by barriers and it will depend if you have enough time from the official opening of the barriers to check-in. Perhaps a phone call to the site might be worthwhile. Also bear in mind that during the rush hour the main road will be quite busy.

So long as you can get off the site early enough you will be fine, the south coast road can be busy between 7 and 9 but most of the traffic will be going towards Brighton not Newhaven.  For total peace of mind you may just want to check on the opening times of the Newhaven swing bridge as that can cause long tail backs although it is highly unlikely to open during rush hour times.

It might pay to call the port too and ask if you can park at the port overnight.  I find this the least stressful way of boarding a ferry.  I have done this at Portsmouth and Plymouth - but haven't tried Newhaven yet.

The club site was too expensive for us with 3 adults. We chose CL1573 near Cooksbridge. Excellent.
