Buying a towcar through Lex Autolease

I have also been looking to buy a new car, and have obtained quotes via CARWOW and the Lex Autolease - CAR SELECT site, via the Club link, and code CC15. The lex price for a new Tiguan, is cheaper than CARWOW, but you buy over the phone, have no contact with a dealer, and the car is delivered to your home - a process I have never used before.

Has anyone in the club used them?

Following the link suggests that you are not buying but leasing the car?

I have only looked quickly but it appears that you pay over 36 months and there is then a final payment??

I've emailed them with a few questions, and you can pay cash, at the discounted price displayed. They also discount any factory fitted extras you specify like a towbar, metallic etc. The discount varies from car to car, but for the Tiguan, the discount was 13.7%.

The process is pay £100 deposit, balance 7 days before delivery - which is the bit I worry about. If you buy from a dealer, I usually pay by debit card on the day of collection, AFTER looking around the car.

Apparently there is a 14 day cancellation/ full refund up to 14 days after the car is delivered, due to distance selling regs (as everything is done over the phone), which all sounds good.BUT, being a sceptic, I was hoping someone in the club who had used them, would be able to tell how it all went.

We have bought two new cars and both were to our spec rather than stock cars and, in those circumstances, accept that I will have to pay up front.

The latest was paid for on the day of collection but this was before we took collection of the vehicle. We got the car through CARWOW with a 13.9% discount and all dealings, deposit and final payment, were with the dealer.

Yes thats the way I would prefer to buy a car. It would be the first car I have ever bought to my spec'n. The difference in the quoted LEX price isn't massive (about £1300), but not insignificant either. I will try to get one of the CARWOW dealers to 'negiotiate', then make a decision

Hi lager,we have used two brokers now, Drive The Deal and CARWOW. It may be that you could use the Lex price to negotiate but only if it is a genuine like for like price. The prices I saw had to have the interest added so were not a real comparison but you may have more info.

Also for us it was important that we owned the car so that ruled out leasing but, before changing this year, I did a comparison and owning was financially advantageous over leasing-that is that what we lost on our last car was less that the lease costs would have been,

With CARWOW for our latest car we had quotes from eight dealers but our local dealer would not go to more than an 8% discount so we went with the cheapest which was 300 miles away but only 15 minutes drive from our daughters.

    Good luck with your search!
