Hello,

I've been caravanning now for a little over 2 years with my first caravan, a 2006 Knaus Starclass 470. It is a gorgeous caravan for 'one dog and his human' though for convenience we leave the bed down and use it during the day like a big futon.

I'm considering a larger caravan with a fixed double and a seperate seating/ lounge area. I should state that I will ONLY consider Continental (German) caravans, as without causing an arguement, I'm not fond of UK built caravans, especially their lack of build quality.

As such, I'm interested in something like the Dethleffs 560 Nomad. Fixed double, a little heavier & a little  wider - but we tow with a Hilux Invincible 3.0 auto, so weight isn't an issue

Does anyone have any experience of Dethleffs ? What is build quality like -- I'm guessing it is on-par with Knaus

Are they as well insulated (caravan year round) ?

If anyone can offer any insights, ideally from first-hand experience, I'd be most interested

Thanks in advance & kind regards, Tony

Now that would be luxury if I could get Ben-dog to tow :)

I've got an 1800kg Dethleffs Bediun 545V which I've now had for 8 years. Before that I had a Knaus Südwind for 16 years. I'd rate the Dethleffs to be better made than the Knaus although to be fair, Knaus may mave caught up with the build quality of the Dethleffs in the meantime, too.

I can't say much about the insulation because I only don't go caravanning in winter.

Thank you Lutz - I know you know your stuff on caravans so I thank you for your input. The Dethleffs I'm interested in is something like the Nomad 560
