The role of thumb on eBay is that if it looks too cheap then it probably is a scam.

Depends how old it is. Just compare the age and condition with others. At that price it is likely to be a con and one you should report to ebay although Hymers go on for many years and a very old one might fit the price.

Quite often scammers use a picture from a dealer's web site. These can sometimes be spotted by searching the internet for the same age and model ebay offers and see if you get a match with another one.

Could it be a misprint?  I have bought a car from Ebay - and that was OK for the time I kept it which wasn't long (there were suspicions that it had a higher mileage than stated due to quite worn seat etc.)  But it sold on fine.  Can you go and view the Hymmer?

I have just sold a caravan on Auto Trader and was approached by the infamous PayPal scam where the buyer was using an agent because they were working on an oil rig so could only pay by PayPal.  Luckily it was so obvious I wasn't tempted despite it coming within the first hour of the advertisement going live for the full asking price.

We met a couple in France who bought an expensive second hand Hymer. All legitimate, no problem, but the photo was subsequently used by a scammer and the MH was then "sold" to somebody else. They had a visit from the police and were able to show all the correct paperwork but somebody obviously suffered.

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. No one will sell a motor caravan for a lower price than necessary. You would be handing your money over to an anonymous machine.

    It's a regular occurrence!

Copy a genuine advert, change the price and contact details and wait for a bite!

    It does work occasionallysurprisedembarassed
