Site availability and reality

I was recently staying at the Uttoxeter CC site last week and wanted to leave later if possible on my planned departure day, as I wanted to visit a show nearby, I would have booked an extra night but was appeared full online and I was assured by the warden that the site was full and they had a waiting list. regarding the late departure it was a definite no ! even if I pulled of the pitch " No" ( its the first time I have ever requested one by the way)

My main gripe though is,  after checking on-line it clearly appeared there were no pitches available, but then  I also checked Thursday 16th April when I was on already pitched on the site and there were no pitches available, However the site was less than a third full, cant be good for business and CC members if the sites are appearing fully booked online , but in reality less than a third full in in my case?

Regards

No idea. There are a lot of grass pitches. In fact mainly grass. I wonder if all were in use? Best people to ask are the warden or CC

Uttoxeter has a high proportion of grass pitches. Where they perhaps not using some of these because of their condition?

    ET beat me to it.

I would think that the warden knows  their site the best ,and I would accept their answer ......................

There were lots of pitches cordonned off at Uttoxeter when I was there in October because of the wet conditions but this isn't the first time I have heard about different views on "full"

Uttoxeter has quite a lot of seasonal pitches. If the seasonal pitch owner has paid then the pitch isn't available.   They could turn up any time they choose

I thought seasonal pitches meant you left the caravan on site....otherwise what's the point of having one ?

Some people may not want to spend the full season on pitch. Many people may not yet have sited their van for a season which has probably only just started.

The season has only just started but there's no rule that requires you to pitch your van on the day the site opens. You can also use use your van to tour and still keep your pitch.

Friends of ours had a seasonal end of season pitch at Bunree. As they used just a motorhome and no second vehicle they would obviously take their motorhome off pitch to return home near Dumfries

Is a stupid system. Friends tried to book standard pitch at Brecon, but Friday showed full. They were meeting us there. Plenty of super itches free but not offered at standard rate despite others full. We left and both of us took our business elsewhere. Good loss of income to the club.

Dafter still. Late availability shows 25 free pitches ( Does not say what type).

It is possible to find some information on types of pitch available in late availability. I am using a Kindle tablet and if I go to late availability and find the site I want and tap on the pitches available it brings up a list of the type and number available. For Brecon tonight it lists serviced with awning 24, standard with awning 1. For some sites the information is not as detailed and only those sites which were part of the "hard standing experiment" show a list which differentiates all types of pitch.

Thanks ForestR  I never new it did that. It is particularly useful for those sites that have service pitches.

I thought serviced might be more popular?
