    Try usiing Michelin Maps.

They will generally give you several routes to choose from. I dont think there is any easy route through Wales. Once in St Davids follow the site directions from the handbook

Google maps are excellent. You can also use 'Street view' to see exactly the roads you are driving along.

St Davids is one of those sites where you really must follow the site directions. The only viable route is from the A40 at Letterston using the B4331 and northern A487.  If approaching from Haverfordwest do not be tempted to use the southern A487 as the road through Solva could be a nightmare towing a caravan. If approaching from the north down the A487 from Cardigan the only tricky bit is the Old Town in Fishguard which is very narrow with a sharp right turn, if you were to meet an HGV or Coach at this point it would be interesting to say the least, this can be avoided by taking the B4329 down to near Haverdodwest and then back up the A40 but this does add a number of miles.

From Shrewsbury I would use the A458 over towards the coast and then down the A487 through Aberystwyth - there is one narrow bit of the A487 in Aberystwyth but you can see reasonably well ahead so it should be ok.

St Davids is a great site in a wonderful area but not the easiest to get to - but thats why its worth the effort.

We are going the other way so will leave St Davids and head up the A487 to Aberystwyth then take the A44 to Llanidloes (where we are staying) then up the A489 and A458.  Haven't towed the route but driven it several times so let the adventure begin, well in May.

As birderbilly said Fishguard is the trickier bit and generally slower travel, so allow extra time.

Do take in what birderb said about the route near the Site in St David's - it is pretty important NOT to follow SatNav - I didn't realise the CC site directions weren't included properly - not only did SatNav take me the wrong route it had the site on the wrong side of the road.  Follow the directions in the book!
